Blawan and Untold were remarkably techno-y on NYE. I mean, I know Blawan is basically techno, but I still think of him as being firmly in the partisans rather than bobbins camp.

I kind of find it interesting that "Getting Me Down" sounds definitely post-dubstep and "WTHTBUMG" sounds definitely techno even tho they have pretty much the same beat.

Yes, definitely. It's like this slow mutation from party-bass to grinding industrial horror noise just by tweaking a parameter. Not many people mentioned Long Distance Open Water Worker EP from earlier in 2012 which was also very weird skewed techno, if not as catchy as the other singles.
