and here I predicted confidently a couple of days ago that "Going Mobile" would have to post, given that "Love Ain't For Keeping" and "My Wife" (which never got FM radio play that I heard) did! was "Going Mobile" ever especially well regarded? i feel like i heard it on the radio more than almost any other Who song in the '90s but it's kinda disappeared since then and i don't miss it one bit.

I don't miss it either, but Dave Marsh liked it and back when I was 15 it, like nearly all the rest of Who's Next, seemed awesome to me.

As for "We're Not Gonna Take It"/"See Me, Feel Me," the former got more votes, but obviously neither had enough for the top 50. Also, clemenza, each "Circles" only got one vote; if I'd combined them, it still wouldn't have made the final results.

"Goin Mobile" I mostly appreciate for the envelope-filter solo. (gtr nerd)

i'll tell ya i've been listening to the who almost my entire life (or at least 30+ years first album i bought was odds & sods cuz it was a cut-out staple at the time) and there is still a ton i don't know about the who and who music. this thread is definitely good for digging in!

maybe magic bus doesn't really count as an album though...

i always think of it as an album. the who didn't like it like the beatles didn't like capitol cash-ins, i think. but sometimes you get so used to things they seem normal and fine.

Oh sweet, "Disguises" is on there too. I love that one.

Truthfully, I've only listened to the first one (Daltrey) all the way through more than once (and it's great). I'm curious about One Of The Boys, less so about Ride A Rock Horse. The others? Meh.

Any recommendations on Ox's solo stuff? I was thinking about dipping a toe in.

YES! Smash Your Head Against The Wall is brilliant; there's a fascinating take on "Heaven And Hell," some heaviness that gives Sabbath a run for its money ("My Size"), and the most beautiful songs he'd ever write ("What Are We Doing Here?" "Ted End," "I Believe In Everything").

The two or three songs I've heard from the rest of his solo albums didn't make me want to hear any more of them, though (except for Whistle Rymes, which is supposed to be decent).

I wanted to put Acid Queen in, really I did, but there was too much competition

i missed out on this poll but i would've voted for 'we're not gonna take it' -- there's something so weirdly moving about it, the way it transitions back and forth between the intimacy of 'see me, feel me' and the interaction with the crowd. one of the few moments on the album where the whole concept really works for me. oh and needless to say i much prefer it to that other fuckin' worthless song of the same title.

I also had to miss several great songs from Who By Numbers from my ballot, like Booze and Waist

yeah, smash your head is essential, but all of his solo albums have a couple of cool tracks. and you need this album for primo disco ox.
