It's ass-kissing, but it's also kinda wounded. Which is either one of Kanye's most egregious "look at me and empathize with me" plays on the record, or it's pretty honest. Maybe it's tacky to write about someone is your hero and hurt your feelings, but he did, and there's a certain amount of balls to that whatever his intention.

It just comes across as genuine and relatable, unlike a lot of the paparazzi-baiting on the rest of the album.

anyway I agree that "Big Brother" is kinda lumbering and is probably gonna end up really overrated. but in the context of the album it really does cut through all the vague 'universal' stadium rock lyrics on the rest of the album. (xp)

big brother actually sounded awesome on 106 the other day. his voice was all hoarse and then he brought out jay and the crowd started to riot.

Yeah I guess it should've been obvious what was gonna happen when he started performing that song, but it was kind of exciting and unexpected when the DJ threw on "Encore" and Jay ran out.

you shouldnt underrate the influence of catchdubs blendizzle dudes tho, it may be a small portion of kanye's audience but its one with a direct line to lots of his press/media coverage - rapping over songs from the OC isnt just to get that college rap dough, its a good way to get critics to ignore your other shortcomings
