That was meant to be my ballot, thanks Pacific Trash Vortex. I forgot about the traditional waiting until after the results to post ballots but it seemed like mine would be pretty insignificant if there wasn't really much overlap with the nominated selections. I guess I was just trying to make a statement, or something.

Hmmm, it looks now as if the roll-out will happen while I'm away on holiday. Ah well, at least I'll have bumper results package to check out when I get back (if my browser still lets me load the thread by that stage).

i haven't looked at or read any of this stuff pertaining to this poll b/c i'm allergic to (300 new answers) and haven't had any time recently. i don't have any time right now either or for the next few days probably? i feel a bit stressed out.

i shouldn't have posted in here i feel even more stressed out

soz i'm not in a mindset to deal with the massive commitment that is an ilx poll right now

just send a list of 50 songs you like off the noms spreadsheet (first post) and then forget abt it

personally i think the best way to vote on this poll is just to skim through the list and find 50 tracks that you remember and remember liking and think "oh yeah i want to hear that again!"

i will try hard to do this tomorrow in work. it's hard to find the time but i do want to.

yeah, massive oversight. i'd kind of forgotten how much this bangs. voted another agoria high to make up for it.

there are some wacko omissions but obv plenty of great stuff to choose from, i'm only putting that down to the sheer volume of music.

can't believe hystereo "winters in the city" is there but no "corporate crimewave".

there is a tuff city kids remix (half of arto mwambe) should be more though.

that makes sense though - i feel like if you polled many clubgoers or dance fans they'd be much more likely to know "still going" compared to "spaghetti circus"

I like both but feel like they are second-tier DFA in the grand scheme of things

sort of know what you mean, with hystereo it's more the inclusion of a track that isn't their best that surprises me. with agoria it's that plus the fact that my personal experiences are clashing with whatever detached critical "is this better" questions you ask. i've heard that agoria track out way more times than "man with the red face", which i'd consider a "deep pick" in reality. "man with the red face" is brilliant but it doesn't feel essential to me, what year was at? i'm sure i heard it first soon after release but it's always felt like an older classic to me, the same way i feel about i dunno, "strings of life" or something, except i like "man with the red face" more than lots of those time-honoured tracks. i think if you go or used to go to clubs and stuff a lot some of these things lose their sheen and you're more inclined to go for the less popular pick, just because it might mean more.

i've got about half done, i'll post a list of stuff i think could have been included here too, not to nitpick or whatever just so people can hear it if they haven't heard it, or for the purposes of discussion.

prefer deep picks to classics whatever either of those things are idk but kinda dont really have any use for a list that has one more time in it

I like 'One More Time', but Daft Punk by then were not really what I call dance music, it's electronic sure, but I couldn't lose myself on the dancefloor to something like that, it just seems far closer to rock than dance. There's verse/chorus/middle-eight, it's all disruptive to any kind of long form dancing experience.

it's a close relation to a whole load of house tracks.

i'd have liked "too long" in there from that record but dunno if it'd make my top 50. it's all pretty reductive though.

i think what i was getting at is that i don't think of these poll lists so much as an indicator of quality - though it does manage that too, sometimes - but more an indicator of what a "canon" might be in terms of what tracks stick in people's minds and influence their reception of new dance music

don't get me wrong, i love it, i think you're hitting on a sort of problem though. "man with the red face" is indisputably canonical, but if i am picking 50 tracks of the 00s, there are other things that i find more exciting. i'm prob not picking based on canon, personally, a mixture of what i feel about a track personally and my experiences with it, and an attempt to look at it for what it is or how effective it is, though it's all coloured by personal experiences for me.

yes, there was. Only about 50% on there though. 99% of the rest are on Youtube.

i am really busy w/ work for exactly one week (end of academic year) and then i start my summer vacation

Hey that's better than nothing! Looks like it goes up to 'S', so I'll delete all the tracks from the current playlist up to that letter, then drag your version over. Maybe get round to filling in the blanks again the next time I'm sat in front of a dull football match.

On the other hand I might just get a life instead.
