ok, thanks! for all of your advice re berghain (and berlin).

Basically, I'm well fussy about my techno, plus, I've seen Dettmann a few times now in Glasgow and am keen to see him specifically at Berghain, hence my hunt for specific info. I've heard his sets can be pretty legendary.

I had thought about trying hardwax so will do so if the info doesn't appear on the berghain page.

"Heh, I'm going to Berlin for the first time in about a month, was sort of wondering about that. How late into the afternoon do things run; i.e. does it make sense to just get up early and make it there for 10 AM?"

My understanding is that it runs from 23.59 on the Friday right through to some point on Sunday night. The main room was relatively empty on the Sunday morning but the panorama bar was pretty rammed. Advice from locals when I was there in October last year was that 6am is the time to go.

That's just the Saturday line-up above. They have another line-up for the Sunday. Not sure when the transition is, however. Doubtful it's midnight.

sometimes I think I really like Boys Noize but sometimes I think his stuff is just horrible distorted frankenhouse crap, guy is so inconsistent.

the whole scene is like that imo, and its a pain because that stuff sounds like crap mixed w. more trad bobbins so dudes end up playing like a straight hour of it

nice to see labels like BNR trax, marble players, sound pellegrino etc taking it back in a more bobbins-friendly direction

Yeah, the stuff Boys Noize does with Erol is a lot more Alkany than the usual BN schtick. I don't think it's that BN is inconsistent so much as he's really affected by who he's working with.

I remember really liking all the singles in the run-up to the first BN album, and all the remixes, but just getting a headache trying to listen to the album. "Adonis" is a great single which piqued my interest again, but all the Alkan collabs have been so face-meltingly generic in the worst way that I'm not wanting to dive in again.
