I would like to change my vote to all of them

dayo, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 22:43 (twelve years ago) link

there are like... 6 songs on here where I went "woah this is the best song on here"

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 22:44 (twelve years ago) link

DO NOT CALL (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 22:44 (twelve years ago) link

at this point for me Love Love >> LTTP

both are classic though obviously

DO NOT CALL (The Brainwasher), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 22:45 (twelve years ago) link

ha such an in-character challop

the version of "i know" from dawn's mixtape was similarly revelatory for me but i do really love chris brown's verse on that :/

tebow gotti (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 22:58 (twelve years ago) link

that's such a challop

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:00 (twelve years ago) link

i didn't end up listening to love love that much... it's cool and sounds great, but the originals work better for a reason

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:00 (twelve years ago) link

I may agree with DJP on that point

dayo, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:01 (twelve years ago) link

still love "Someone To Love Me" so much, if I were gonna rate these I'd put it just after "Ass On The Floor".

I'd also rate "Shades" & "Coming Home" super high, never got overexposed to the latter on radio & I traveled a lot to this album last year (to Paris no less) so coming home was on my mind a bunch.

Euler, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:05 (twelve years ago) link

it is also true that "Coming Home" has a completely different impact when heard at the end of this album instead of 8 million times in a row on the radio

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:06 (twelve years ago) link

totally

Euler, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:07 (twelve years ago) link

well at least i'm consistent with my challops i guess

I think I like Love Love vs. Hate Love even more than LTTP

every time I've said I love this record people wince often enough for me to check my armpit deodorant.

oh totally - it's actually quite affecting in a way that's lost in the vacuum of the radio

tebow gotti (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 23:22 (twelve years ago) link

I meant agree w/ brainwasher - I listen to Love Love more than LTTP at this point.

I know 'rollercoaster' is on a basic level such a corny track, but I find it really affecting, diddy seems to be singing from a place of personal experience

uberweiss, Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:29 (twelve years ago) link

best album of the 21st century, for me

dayo, Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:31 (twelve years ago) link

It's top 5 for me. I've been pretty evangelical about it to acquaintances & have gotten a lot of skepticism, which is a drag; need better acquaintances I guess.

Euler, Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:33 (twelve years ago) link

yeah this is #2 for me behind the titus andronicus album... feels like they'll both be hard to top even tho we have 8 years left

J0rdan S., Thursday, 26 January 2012 00:36 (twelve years ago) link

i still think its 'ass on the floor' tbqh

uh, what are you guys doing without the DELUXE edition

dayo, Thursday, 26 January 2012 01:03 (twelve years ago) link

What? The Deluxe Edition is the best!

We aren't using it?

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 26 January 2012 01:18 (twelve years ago) link

deluxe edition has 19 tracks iirc

dayo, Thursday, 26 January 2012 01:20 (twelve years ago) link

My deluxe ed has 18 and one is the intro.

Somewhere between Fergie and Jesus (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 26 January 2012 02:04 (twelve years ago) link

if you are going to stan for a b-side, it's 'no ordinary love'

dayo, Thursday, 26 January 2012 02:09 (twelve years ago) link

love that joint, but there are better DDM songs. best is prob up in the air between "ass on the floor" and "sade"

lag∞n affiliated (The Reverend), Thursday, 26 January 2012 02:48 (twelve years ago) link

ass up in the air on the floor

ha

lag∞n affiliated (The Reverend), Thursday, 26 January 2012 02:53 (twelve years ago) link

think the second half of "strobe lights" might be my favorite part of this album

i've been gorging on the entire thing again recently... so totally brilliant

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:09 (twelve years ago) link

also kevin needs to gtfo pretending like "shades" isn't a totally defensible pick for best song on the album -- the vocals on the hook are so crazily good

lag∞n affiliated (The Reverend), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:41 (twelve years ago) link

if 'shades' is your favorite song on the album then you're doing DDM wrong imo

tebow gotti (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:48 (twelve years ago) link

it's not my #1 favourite but it's arguably the album's centrepiece and the song that most encapsulates LTTP and its themes!

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 20:49 (twelve years ago) link

mayyybe thematically, i mean who cares tho, and sonically it's more an outlier than pretty much everything else other than "change"!

tebow gotti (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 21:01 (twelve years ago) link

I'd be satisfied if the album was all "Shades" and "Ass on the Floor."

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 21:03 (twelve years ago) link

this album rules

Whiney vs. (BradNelson), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 21:10 (twelve years ago) link

don't know how you can say preferring "shades" is doing ddm wrong because each track is like a totally different exploration of mood. liking a ddm song is doing ddm right
