this is at least wayyyy better than lil wayne singing...when lil wayne started singing and the cool dropped lupe fiasco became my favorite rapper

i think the guitars are kinda cool but the rest is just

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 January 2009 20:53 (fifteen years ago) link

it sounds like a band that should be playing live during a scene where austin powers is at a party

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 January 2009 20:53 (fifteen years ago) link

the guitars are like the guitar equivalent of a preset on a casio keybord! wtf

I really like XXXXXXXXX magazine and I'm a nerd rapper who is inspired by videogames. I don’t know if you like rap or hip-hop (I don’t, it’s horrible), but I’m a rapper (I think). I’m more like a writer/lyricist/poet because my lyrics are though-provoking, creative, poetic, deep, metaphoric, complex, and very clever. I use a lot of alliterations, hyperbole, double entrendes, imagery, and witty wordplay. I AM THE BEST WRITER EVER. My lyrics are hard to comprehend because they’re so deep. My lyrics seem simple, but have that hidden depth that requires a lot of thought. My content is what sets me apart from every other rapper. I talk about real issues and problems in the world. I also talk about videogames, movies, technology, television, basketball, and more. I go by the name of Recess the Jedi and I’m a nerdy college student who loves videogames. I’m just doing something different and putting some good into the world. I know for a fact that I could sell millions of records being myself. I’m the definition of Think Outside the Box and a breath of fresh air so check me out at http://www.myspace.com/recessthejedi The sound quality is not the best, but its good enough and make sure you listen to the song called Game violence.

this is fucking awful. has anything ever sucked as hard as rap in jan. 09??? i'm depressed. I can't think of a single thing to look forward to or even listen to that I haven't heard a million times and everything new that "drops" is disappointing or just plain bad. fuck you new music cartel

aggy new year (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Monday, 5 January 2009 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link

aggy new year (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Monday, 5 January 2009 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link

plies->bad new jay-z raps->swizz beatz song sampling a british band->plies->lupe's rock band where he sings with a fake accent->common vlogging = a pretty appropriate way to start off 09 i think

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 January 2009 21:42 (fifteen years ago) link

it's funny cuz Freeway kind of killed a lot of those tracks but nothing could have turned me off more than the stupid month of blog posts bullshit.

aggy new year (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Monday, 5 January 2009 21:42 (fifteen years ago) link

wasn't the jay rock that m@tt posted from 09? really liked it!

lex pretend, Monday, 5 January 2009 21:52 (fifteen years ago) link

i got my fill of zeek from Bad Santa. I'm not talking about 2009. I'm talking about the state of this shit right now, it's been going on for months. going on my google reader is the most monotonous hell ever, it has gone too far and now we are in a serious nadir. something's gotta give. if fucking Charles hamilton goes mainstream it's seriously gonna suck.

aggy new year (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Monday, 5 January 2009 21:53 (fifteen years ago) link

dont worry

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Monday, 5 January 2009 21:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Sounds like a half-finished bootleg someone would have posted to a message board circa 2002.

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 6 January 2009 20:40 (fifteen years ago) link

he's a halfway good producer - hes basically like doing dipset production but since he's of the internet he's sampling indie singers and stuff- but as a rapper he's got miles i think

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 6 January 2009 20:41 (fifteen years ago) link

i lol'd @ this from noz's TWITTER:

i remember hearing "brooklyn girls" on shade 45 or maybe the other sirius rap station in like early summer way before this whole the blog rap thing really took hold and thinking it was pretty good. he's probably recorded 200 songs since then

those halcyon days

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 6 January 2009 20:56 (fifteen years ago) link

yup. and might i add in regard to my depressed posts yesterday, i feel validated somewhat:

Now the best rappers are not rapping, going to jail, and just sucking. Now that Wayne has officially evolved into the hip hop personality sphere occupied by such irrelevant recording artists as 50 and Snoop Dogg we have no true rap stars. Kanye is leading the pack, but off the cliff.

The hipster hop crossover (not to be confused with the blogo thundercat rappers, an embarrassment in their own right, but honestly not even worth acknowledging at this point - I am talking 808s, “Swagger Like Us”, “Brooklyn Go Hard”, Jim Jones rhyming over MGMT, etc.) of 2009 will be looked back on as one of the lowest points in hip hop. Lower than snap hop and hip house and all that

aggy new year (surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally), Tuesday, 6 January 2009 21:14 (fifteen years ago) link

hip house wasn't that bad!

</doug lazy>
