my fave, including as it does in the bottom left corner the quote
"I get buzzed off the fact that Andy Warhol's heard of us because he gets buzzed off the fact that Picasso had heard of him."

by the way Discogs is a good place for inside-the-gatefold sleeve art, even when google images isn't coming up with the goods.

God, that Roxy gatefold. It's just so outrageous from top to bottom. Paul Thompson looks like he's cracking up that he's even holding a guitar! And their shoes!

I don't think anyone's ever looked as purely COOL as Ferry in that shot.

^^^I recognise that. T Dream?

I can't find a picture of the inside of the vinyl version of the Beasties Boys To the 5 Boroughs, it's not as good as the CD version but it's still really nice, sadly it costs a lot of money now.

The one that wk re-posted is Frank Sidebottom, who was sort of a novelty act from the north of England.

In fact, the source of the Hawkwind was hardformat which has a nice selection of Barney Bubbles' album art.

I've referenced the War album that ellaguru noted upthread many times here at ILM. I rank the Tres Hombres as tops, but Black Man's Burdon certainly needs to be visually represented in this thread.

This is the outside of that ABBA one. The usual version has the park bench image on the outside and a vertical shot of them on the inside. The Swedish edition looks like this:

Man I LOVE that cover all around. Bought it for my ex because she's into that kind of ridiculousness, wish I had kept it.

xgau's classic review of that Burdon & War lp, which needs to be in this thread for obvs. reasons:

The Black Man's Burdon [MGM, 1971]
On the front cover of this album is a black man in silhouette. On the back cover Eric, looking paunchy, rests his head in the crotch of a black woman straddled above him. He also holds her ankles. Inside the jacket seven men, presumably the band, occupy the background of a full-length photo of a grassy field. Six of the men are black; five are bare-chested. In the foreground recline two naked blondes who obviously belong in a centerfold. The left hand of one is thrown back to reveal a clean-shaven and possibly airbrushed underarm, so that her right does not quite conceal her pubic hair. Her companion hides her sex with both hands. The only man who is standing appears to be walking toward the women. He has removed the belt from his pants. D+

I've always viewed the "Burdon" spread as allegory - the music says it's so. But be damned, white-man, reparations are-a-coming!
