Guessing no one here got in for the Fallon taping. Wondering what song they'll do.
Harnessed in Slums would be my guess (Web in Front is only two minutes long). Mind would be blown if they bust out something rare.

yeah i was not invited alas

Wow they did "Wrong!"
Also, while everyone else looks about 13 years older than the last time I saw them, Matt Gentling has been preserved in amber and remains perpetually 20-something.

Listening to the Icky Mettle reissue: I guess it's been remastered? I can't tell tbh. It doesn't sound any clearer or fuller, maybe just louder. And the 2nd disc just has the AOLvsGOAT ep and a few other things that were already on The Speed of Cattle. So yeah, unless you've been hunting a copy of Icky Mettle on vinyl for a few years w/o any success, this whole thing seems kind of superfluous.

After like a million years, I've finally come around (mostly) to White Trash Heroes.
I don't really see any great need for reissues, unless there's some weird trove of unreleased tracks that they're sitting on. Their live (on CD/LP/bootleg) stuff never seemed like any huge improvement over the original recordings, seems like the b-sides mostly got out already, and the quality of their CDs was never a problem.
― dlp9001, Friday, 29 July 2011 15:46 (twelve years ago) link
I never posted about the show, but I have time now to say this: it was good. It was. I had fun and bounced around a lot. I saw a lot of men in their 30s. But honestly I missed the CF songs.
― Fa la la (La Lechera), Friday, 29 July 2011 15:49 (twelve years ago) link
Outside of The Speed of Cattle, there are only four tracks (iirc) that are scattered:
Mark Price, P.I. - from the Lounge Ax compilation on Touch & GoBig Joe and Phantom 309 - from the Step Right Up covers compilation of Tom Waits songsJive Kata - from a stand-alone 7"Telepathic Traffic (acoustic) - from a split 7" with Monsterland
There may be some previously unreleased stuff the band is sitting on for later reissues, but if you're got all the albums and The Speed of Cattle, you have almost everything.

cool will watch that
kinda bummed they ruined the cover art on Vee Vee for the reissue
― konybrony (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 14 March 2012 17:42 (twelve years ago) link
Yeah, I was a little disappointed in that too. I like the new one too, but it should have been like the cover for the inside booklet instead, imho.

apparently the original artwork for everything except icky mettle was lost, so they tried to make lemonade
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 14 March 2012 17:54 (twelve years ago) link
Why doesn't it surprise me that the people at Alias would lose something important like COVER ART? Joke ass label.

I'm about 5% disappointed they didn't play Fashion Bleeds or anything else off WTH at the reunion gig I saw.
― the fey monster (ledge), Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:22 (eleven years ago) link
Wow, they didn't even do "White Trash Heroes"? Sucks.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:23 (eleven years ago) link
I caught two of their farewell 1998 shows and it was played at one and not the other, so I guess I should consider myself lucky.
i think they played dead red eyes last year? not certain
― mookieproof, Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:33 (eleven years ago) link
i saw 2 gigs in chicago, first night they played dead red eyes, next night nothing off of white trash heroes, really wanted to hear "fashion bleeds"
― wack nerd zinging in the dead of night (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 31 May 2012 19:34 (eleven years ago) link
They were basically going for all the fast punchy stuff so it would have fitted right in.

All The Nations Airports...that's one of the big momentum killing records. Coming after Vee Vee it sounded so flat

was at the show in toronto last night. in addition to the age group that would have been in college or thereabouts during aol's heyday, there were a ton of young people (like, many looked like teenagers), and they were singing along to the songs! what's the deal! just the effect of the internet or...?
eric bachman seemed amused by the moshing and crowdsurfing and related antics.

they were fine, I never paid em much heed before. Preferred them to Man or Atro-Man, who went on just before. (but was most relieved it wasn't 103 degrees anymore)
