Did NME just ignore the Cut Copy album then? Seems a mystifying omission considering the stuff they generally went for this year.

I just don't get the ILM Cut Copy love at all, so the NME and I are in accord over that one. (Cut Copy, Santogold and Girl Talk are currently fighting it out for my "most bafflingly overrated" award.)

The 'why the fuck did they vote for that appalling shit?' factor is quite low in this list though, compared to 2006 or, worse, 2002.

Voted for Frightened Rabbit, which is my #2 album this year after Alopecia by Why? Can't believe they and especially Cut Copy didn't make the NME list. Nothing should surprise though, really.

To be fair, LotP sound like that live as well...

I was unaware these magazines were to releasing Best of Lists for 2008; I thought they would be focusing on 1988 or 1998 as usual.

Mojo don't give a damn about 1998 or 1988. Their focus is on 1968 and perhaps 1978. :)

As for Q, they write about current music. But maybe focusing on current music that may not sound radically different from what was around in 1998. Or 1988. Or 1978. Or 1968.

I played the Oasis album recently, and found it wasn't bad at all.

One of those "disappointing" on first hearing, decide it's crap, then hear it again and find it's not as bad as remembered.
