I actually really enjoy listening to a lot of these songs.
There, I said it.

voted "Ants Marching", never minded this song when it was ubiquitous, which is the best I can say about it (or about the others).
I do quote "Don't Drink The Water" a lot for dadjoke comedy value.
― Euler, Saturday, 26 March 2011 23:11 (fifteen years ago)
"Don't Drink The Water" was a nearly "Lakini's Juice"-level buzzkill in terms of their career at the time, i don't know how it would sound to me now but when i think of it i mostly lol
― NO BLOGS WERE INVOLVED. (some dude), Sunday, 27 March 2011 00:07 (fifteen years ago)
it reminds me of lakini's juice, mostly cuz its weirdo sludge rawk
― ★ INXS ★ What You Need ★ (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 27 March 2011 01:02 (fifteen years ago)
Funny because when it originally came out, "Lakini's Juice" was my favorite thing Live had done yet.

Whiney OTM re Helmet-ness of that song. Finally we find common ground. If I ever found myself with the desire to listen to an entire Live album again, it would totally be Secret Samadhi

Lakini's Juice by Live was supposed to sound like Helmet. The only thing it had in common w DDtW were that they were both weirdly melodramatic alt-rock songs
― drugnet (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 31 March 2011 05:03 (fifteen years ago)
well lets be fair, both of them are absolutely terrible so they do have that in common
― broke my o_O face o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 31 March 2011 05:04 (fifteen years ago)
btw i realize that i am taking the dangerous and on the cusp challop view that a live and a DMB song are not good, but i had never heard either one before and wow
― broke my o_O face o_O (jjjusten), Thursday, 31 March 2011 05:05 (fifteen years ago)
Love Lakini's Juice and voted for it in dude's Stylus Mag's Floundering Grunge Follow-up poll
I think now is a good time to re-assert that DMB are 90% awful

What Would You SayJimi ThingAnts MarchingSatelliteToo MuchSo Much To SayTripping BilliesDon't Drink The Water
^^^ much as i'd like to i can't really hate on any of these, hooky as hell (although his vocal stylings almost sink "Satellite") and fuck man, i owned the CDs like a million other people. Like it or not, Under The Table And Dreaming is going to be in fucktons of "classic album" canon lists ten years from now if it's not already. Granted, the lows are really low, and they overreach when they try to make Serious Statements. I let "Don't Drink The Water" in because it's just so magnificently goofy. But ehhh, none of those up there are so bad and hated, for me.
I will admit that I would race to change the channel on "Ants Marching" but I'll still give it credit for being very well-constructed.

i've heard what would you say on the radio a few times recently and it really doesn't sound that bad, tho it has its share of awful lyrical clunkers. but now that i am considering what else i could vote for i remember that all dmb songs have terrible lyrical clunkers.
so yeah, what would you say.

ha ha ha oh ilx
i have listened to almost no dave matthews, but in college someone thought it would be a good idea to hire a DJ to play music outside to celebrate the end of the term. except it was monday of fucking finals week and how the fuck am i supposed to write an essay about cotton mather when my brain is full of "THE SPAAAACE BETWEEEEEEEEEEEEEN~~~~~!"

I guess, I'm just shocked that there are that many ilxors that would vote for it. Thought it was pretty much universally reviled around here.
― 'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Saturday, 2 April 2011 03:38 (fifteen years ago)
not voting for "Crash Into Me" = actually giving some semblance of a shit...
― "what's your name?" "silence...silence during class." (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 2 April 2011 03:38 (fifteen years ago)
"Crash Into Me" is a depressingly ubiquitous song, i'm not really surprised 30 people on this board had it pounded into their head enough to vote for it
