there is no limit on nominations so have at it.
Just wondering ... if there's no limit on nominations, then what's the point of having nominations? (to jog our memories, I guess?) If we can choose anything we want then why not just send in our individual top 50's?
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 14 September 2010 11:14 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah, I'm finding the memory jogging aspects of the nominations really helpful. There's so much stuff I've forgotten!

Is there any reason why almost no mixes and compilation albums have been nominated so far? Are we agreeing to limit this to artist albums only? (I don't think we should, btw)
― NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 14 September 2010 11:22 (thirteen years ago) link
Porter Ricks - Biokinetics(nobody voted for this except me in the 90s poll but I live in hope)
Mouse on Mars - Autoditacker
A lot of stuff I'm thinking of has already been nominated but I'm sure I'll be back as they spring to mind. Clarification on whether we're allowed mixes and compilations would be good, some have been nommed but surprisingly few for such a mix/comp-heavy genre (ha xp)

If we're allowed to nominate compilations than I'm nominating Techno! The New Dance Sound of Detroit.

not sure how i feel about stuff like junior boys and herbert - scale on this. i love those albums but they don't seem like they quite fit in a techno/dance/ambient focused poll. 'scale' in particular has no synths on it and lots of orchestra! it's a pop album imo

Tuomas, it tells you on the page
About the Artist Mickey Hart, best known for his work with The Grateful Dead, has collected and performed on many unusual percussion instruments found throughout the world. He has put both traditional and little-known instruments to new and unexpected uses in his own compositions. At the same time, he has worked diligently to preserve the wisdom of ancient musical cultures through his recordings of indigenous artists. His research into the ritualistic roots of percussion is chronicled in his 1990 book, 'Drumming at the Edge of Magic'. In 1969, Henry Wolff and Nancy Hennings traveled to India and Nepal where they studied with the Kagyu branch of Tibetan Buddhism and discovered the transcendent music of the Tibetan bells. In 1972, they became the first Western artists to make use of the then unknown Asian instruments in a 20th century Western idiom. The resulting album, Tibetan Bells, led to a succession of recordings featuring these instruments.
I assume you've heard the grateful dead.

This is not the best CD to buy in my opinion. Its okay... Yamantaka is supposed to be some lower being of some kind and this CD is supposed to explore the darker side or something.... Anyway its okay. It sounds kinda spooky actually but I do like the sound of the bells.
