no way all those records are good

deej, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 07:01 (eighteen years ago)

"hey tim is "middle class" australian code for "actually liveable and comfy and non-bachelorish"?"

Yes! I wasn't trying to put them down. It's just that I had a sense that Ame's house was going to be nice and stylish but not self-consciously distinctive (a la Vath's, Hell's etc.). It looks like my living room!

Tim F, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 08:13 (eighteen years ago)

i bet the sound in kohncke's is awesome. i noticed the soul jazz tom moulton comp sticking out of the record box, too.

tricky, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

kohncke's looks like a very industrious hobo has fashioned himself a living space in a disused subway stop

eulberg's looks pretty much like what i expected from "the early 90s equivalent of these" i was talking about with matos up thread

strongohulkington, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)

he has a single bed and he's not ashamed of it.

jed_, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 22:44 (eighteen years ago)

ame's is the only one i would want to be in

elan, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

subway stop or bathhouse???

tricky, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 23:31 (eighteen years ago)

eulberg's looks pretty much like what i expected from "the early 90s equivalent of these" i was talking about with matos up thread

this is spot-on except where's the SCHWA poster and the pot plant?

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

yes, Dominik Eulberg's room look's like mine when i was in highschool (minus all the records of course)

I'd like to see the rest of Villalobos' and Steve Bug's apartments

Malcolm Money, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

I love this thread.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 8 December 2007 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

jim, Saturday, 8 December 2007 00:38 (eighteen years ago)

Oh what. They're not on the ikea site anymore :(

jim, Saturday, 8 December 2007 00:41 (eighteen years ago)

Ikea chair that is better than the one Richie Hawtin has.

jim, Saturday, 8 December 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

No, I do not know why I am so fixated on this.

jim, Saturday, 8 December 2007 01:20 (eighteen years ago)

in this link at the ~2:00 mark there's a great shot of Richie Hawtin's swank apartment

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

ps i like richie's half-canuck-half-german accent. north american eurotrash.

moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 13 December 2007 22:07 (eighteen years ago)

I think that's more a result of living in England for the first 13 years of his life a la Slick Rick (While nonetheless someone like Ricardo moves to Germany at 3 and is touted as being Mr. Chile, but that's another story altogether).

mehlt, Friday, 14 December 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)

I admit I haven't read the whole thread (just looked at the pretty pictures) but where was this originally - it looks like a magazine?

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:37 (eighteen years ago)

Yes it was a spread in Groove (groove.de) magazine.

blunt, Friday, 14 December 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

I thank you.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 December 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

There's just something about DJ Hell having a weight bench ...

I actually searched up this thread a few days ago and made Ellen Allien's place my computer desktop!

Hi guise why is this on the front page of Digg right now?

Stevie D, Sunday, 17 February 2008 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

Dunno, but it's bringing an extra 25,000 people a day since Friday.

stet, Sunday, 17 February 2008 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

Display Name, Monday, 21 July 2008 22:32 (seventeen years ago)

Heh. An ILM thread was on the Digg frontpage? How'd that work out? Any epic threads us lurkers might have missed out on?

Hence there are more of these that are still unearthed.

mehlt, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

I don't care about any of these.

pipebong (fandango), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 18:54 (seventeen years ago)

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 19:08 (seventeen years ago)

when we're done with the mix contest we should have an "ILX DJs and their living rooms" thread

resident advice whore (haitch), Wednesday, 25 March 2009 00:09 (seventeen years ago)

this is one of my favorite threads

Ellen Allien's living room still rules.

I f'd up the word rear (Z S), Wednesday, 25 March 2009 00:18 (seventeen years ago)

I have a room set up that I'm sure would destroy a lot of competition, but I'm too embarrassed about how few records I have (especially after looking at this thread)

mehlt, Wednesday, 25 March 2009 01:15 (seventeen years ago)

I have just realised that Koze has the same record storage units as me. Spybox modular FTW.

Mirror-spangled elephant head (J@cob), Wednesday, 25 March 2009 09:53 (seventeen years ago)

this remains my favourite thread ever.

And the photos at the top still show up. Extra joy. Why can't all threads remain so intact...sigh.

Ned Trifle (Notinmyname), Saturday, 16 April 2011 11:59 (fifteen years ago)

I wonder if Michael Reinboth's room has fallen through the floor yet?

Ned Trifle (Notinmyname), Saturday, 16 April 2011 12:01 (fifteen years ago)

I don't like how Ellen Alien keeps her shit in plastic garbage bags, she should head over to the Container Store.
