I would never forget about Turdgasm

The Titi Hendricks Experience (some dude), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 14:48 (fourteen years ago) link

I could've sworn I nominated Dizzee's Bonkers and La Roux's Bulletproof...

Cunga, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 19:51 (fourteen years ago) link

You used 9 of your nominations, said "6 left," and then never used the rest.

The Titi Hendricks Experience (some dude), Tuesday, 19 January 2010 20:59 (fourteen years ago) link

Thought for sure somebody nommed Zero Boys, but no big.

Pete Scholtes, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 22:29 (fourteen years ago) link

Missed the nomination process. Apparently nobody liked Music For Men and Sally Shapiro.

LeRooLeRoo, Tuesday, 19 January 2010 22:38 (fourteen years ago) link

musically did you get my email?

guardian nagle (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 20 January 2010 05:07 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, I can't change the ballots in the form as they are so I'll change them when I start tallying, I'll reply to confirm once I do it.

musically, Wednesday, 20 January 2010 05:16 (fourteen years ago) link

sorry about that, thx

guardian nagle (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 20 January 2010 05:28 (fourteen years ago) link

aw shit, I misread the thread title and thought this was a best of the 2000s poll. ignore my ballot then.

regret hit immediately after sending it. would never have been happy though.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:15 (fourteen years ago) link

so did we decide that 'real life is no cool' will be in the 2010 poll? just checking before i submit my ballot...

psychgawsple, Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:34 (fourteen years ago) link

unreg didn't you notice that every album on the list was from this year? or did you not read the directions

ethan PADGY (k3vin k.), Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:38 (fourteen years ago) link

anyway musically how many ballots so far? Are not gonna get as many as last year?

ethan PADGY (k3vin k.), Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:40 (fourteen years ago) link

2010 poll, psychgawsple.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:43 (fourteen years ago) link

I've finally decided on the final album for my ballot - man, that took so long, including sometimes enduring some real "poop" on the noms list. The trax were sorted within 10 minutes.

But thanks to whomever nommed Omar S (i gave it a few listens last summer, then inexplicably put it aside for the rest of the year - truly amazing, fun stuff), whomever nommed Ben Frost (brutal, searing, powerful and beautifull) and Joris Voorn (madskillz!!) - they're all in my ballot.

Ballot heading musically's way this evening

De que estas hablando? (Tannenbaum Schmidt), Thursday, 21 January 2010 19:56 (fourteen years ago) link

Yeah, the Ben Frost is great, more people should hear that. Here's the opening track:

musically, can i ask you to email me a copy of my ballot? w/ that new submission format i realized i didnt keep a copy of my votes! either the email address i submitted or webmail here is fine, thanks!

johnny crunch, Thursday, 21 January 2010 20:27 (fourteen years ago) link

xpost Yeah, someone posted about that Ben Frost on some thread around Christmas time and it became my soundtrack for the holidays. I spend a lot of time driving across frozen Canadian landscapes not a lot different than that video.

you had to miss a whole lot of other stuff besides the thread title to not pick up on that!

i'll email the ballots out tonight, google docs is blocked on my work computer so I can't tell how many are in, i think there were 65~ yesterday. we had about 85 last year so hopefully we can at least match it.

musically, Thursday, 21 January 2010 23:17 (fourteen years ago) link

submitted!!so you should have at least 66

I dont see it on the list from which we can choose. shame, cos i would have chosen it,

De que estas hablando? (Tannenbaum Schmidt), Thursday, 21 January 2010 23:42 (fourteen years ago) link

and 67

forksclovetofu, Thursday, 21 January 2010 23:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Voted. My #1 is hugely tactical but it was such a great record I'd be gutted if it didn't make the list, and a lot of my other favourite's don't need my vote.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Friday, 22 January 2010 00:15 (fourteen years ago) link

ILX polls are turning into Eurovision

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Friday, 22 January 2010 00:25 (fourteen years ago) link

so can i still vote for lindstrom and christabelle's "keep it up" if we can't vote for rlinc? it wasn't released as a single, only as a an album track. i'd love to make some room on my list but otherwise it would be pretty close to the top

psychgawsple, Friday, 22 January 2010 00:54 (fourteen years ago) link

ugh, *as an

psychgawsple, Friday, 22 January 2010 00:55 (fourteen years ago) link

I have no investment on whether L+C's new album should be included in this poll, but I'm curious -- were there really not enough tracks + albums from 2009 that you like that you need to pick stuff from a 2010 album?

oh, what I meant to say was ignore my nominations upthread, which I posted a week ago. but I see that they've long since been ignored, so 's good.

now to fill out a ballot :p

^ this! c'mon people.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 22 January 2010 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

did i not say i'd love to make some room on my list?

those tracks leaked in like september or something, and "keep it up" is genuinely one of my favorite songs i heard this year

psychgawsple, Friday, 22 January 2010 01:54 (fourteen years ago) link

plus it IS on the ballot.

psychgawsple, Friday, 22 January 2010 01:57 (fourteen years ago) link

err, list of noms rather

psychgawsple, Friday, 22 January 2010 01:58 (fourteen years ago) link

"baby can't stop" would be a defensible choice, can't see any scenario where a freaking album track from an officially 2010 album would be ok

ethan PADGY (k3vin k.), Friday, 22 January 2010 02:07 (fourteen years ago) link

Hey, is it cool if I vote for Contra? (jk)

Mordy, Friday, 22 January 2010 02:11 (fourteen years ago) link

Just voted!

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 22 January 2010 02:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I have 83 submissions so far, I checked and last year I got about 95 total submissions, and since about 10 people didn't do a tracks or albums it equated to about 85 or so each. There's usually a rush last day so I'm sure we'll beat last year by a bit.

musically, Friday, 22 January 2010 02:53 (fourteen years ago) link

Hey musically, I'm going to compile & submit my lists tonight, but is it OK if send you a few blurbs separately, in the days to come? If not, it's cool.. I'd meant to write a few things, but I forgot about the deadline I don't know if I'll have the chance to do it tonight.

ron paul revulvalution (Pillbox), Friday, 22 January 2010 03:02 (fourteen years ago) link

were there really not enough tracks + albums from 2009 that you like that you need to pick stuff from a 2010 album?

so how are folks handling things from 2008 albums like Taylor Swift? she didn't get much love in last years list iirc.

Moreno, Friday, 22 January 2010 03:10 (fourteen years ago) link

Album isn't eligible imo, but singles released this year (You Belong With Me + Fifteen) are.

Mordy, Friday, 22 January 2010 03:12 (fourteen years ago) link

i'm gonna feel bad when Fearless places on neither 2008 or 2009, because it could be top ten in either imo, but it's a 2008 album and i'm not going to vote for it in a 2009 poll. the singles are totally fair game imo tho, i voted for "you belong with me"

xp

ethan PADGY (k3vin k.), Friday, 22 January 2010 03:14 (fourteen years ago) link

well Fearless was nominated but i'm guessing most people will pass on it bc of the release date

Moreno, Friday, 22 January 2010 03:17 (fourteen years ago) link

I'd like to start posting tracks on Monday, so if you can get me your blurbs by then, I'll add them.

musically, Friday, 22 January 2010 03:19 (fourteen years ago) link

i'm pretty excited to see these results, could be a good palate-cleanser after P&J

some dude, Friday, 22 January 2010 03:22 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm cross-checking my lists vs. the noms & am surprised to see that neither the Clipse or Royce da 5'9" albums were nominated.

ron paul revulvalution (Pillbox), Friday, 22 January 2010 03:27 (fourteen years ago) link

I voted for Fearless because it had no real traction in the UK until 2009. Also Love Story was released in 2009 over here as well, so that got my vote. Thought You Belong to Me would be the strategic choice, but gave up on that and just went with what I preferred. Same goes for Fuck Buttons and The-Dream tracks.

Bee OK, Friday, 22 January 2010 05:14 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, fearless had a UK 2009 release date, plus the platinum edition was 2009. though my vote is really for the US original version - UK version screws it up with "pop remixes" ugh, platinum edition screws up the track sequencing - so i guess it's cheating somewhat but whatever

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Friday, 22 January 2010 10:54 (fourteen years ago) link

and yeah genuinely enthused about seeing these results

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Friday, 22 January 2010 10:55 (fourteen years ago) link

our results will shit on this year's P&J from a very GRATE height, i predict!

the not-metal one (Ioannis), Friday, 22 January 2010 12:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Sorry if this has already been said, but can I just send a top 10 for tracks? I'm stuck staring at the list and I know if I try to do all 20 it'll never be finished, whereas if I can just chuck 10 in there it'll be fine.

And for some reason I was operating under the impression it was 30 slots each, so now I'm going to have to get rid of 10 albums. Gah.
