Actually, I saved a copy of my ballot, so I'll just start that thread now ...

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 28 August 2004 17:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Crikey! I didn't nominate La Novia but ended up being the only one who voted for it.

And if I'd voted for "Hunted by a freak" instead of "Take me somewhere nice" in the same 32 point spot...

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Saturday, 28 August 2004 19:02 (nineteen years ago) link

156. Femi Kuti - Beng Beng Beng (Chateau Flight mix) (45)

Sigh. Well, at least I can count on a few other votes for my '90s nominations, I hope.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Saturday, 28 August 2004 19:19 (nineteen years ago) link

So is someone going to be sending out CDs then?

artdamages (artdamages), Saturday, 28 August 2004 19:31 (nineteen years ago) link

Eric i really want to hear that track as I like the original and i totally need more Chateau Flight in my life i think - i just havent got round to hearing it, and i knew nobody else would vote for it

xpost

sure Chris, but it will take a week or two to sort out - hold tight

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Saturday, 28 August 2004 20:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh I'm not trying to rush you. I was actually wondering if someone else was going to take that on since you've already done so much work. Perhaps someone could do the US mailings?

artdamages (artdamages), Saturday, 28 August 2004 20:21 (nineteen years ago) link

console's "zero zero" (actual title - "14 zero zero", unless this is indeed some remix or something that i don't know about) was released in 1997!!

m. (mitchlnw), Saturday, 28 August 2004 20:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Steve, it's jaw-dropping in my opinion. It's got this navy nightscape menace underneath (opening and closing with gargantuan snatches of trash-compacter crecsendo-decrescendo) and alien-tabla (or Mars-pogo, take your pick) bounce-happy beats (an intoxicating hybrid of d&b and house polyrhythms). And, of course, Femi's super-sexy vocals, with enough reverb to sound like he's singing right into his robot lover's metallic vagina.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Saturday, 28 August 2004 21:16 (nineteen years ago) link

wow, i killed dirrty

Symplistic (shmuel), Saturday, 28 August 2004 21:27 (nineteen years ago) link

Hero for a second time.

The Good Dr. Bill (Andrew Unterberger), Saturday, 28 August 2004 21:28 (nineteen years ago) link

Ooh, if I hadn't gone on holiday and forgotten to vote, more of my choices would have been outside the top 100 than in. I wasn't expecting that.

coco, Saturday, 28 August 2004 21:29 (nineteen years ago) link

RE: CDR: What should I do to get on that list? I'm excited to hear a great deal of this stuff...

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 28 August 2004 21:39 (nineteen years ago) link

sound like he's singing right into his robot lover's metallic vagina.

Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 29 August 2004 00:01 (nineteen years ago) link

Whew. I was worried I'd unwittingly ripped-off the metal box-chowing vocalization line. Whatever gets people to (belatedly) listen to the track.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Sunday, 29 August 2004 00:19 (nineteen years ago) link

122. Sticky (featuring Miss Dynamite) - Boo! (85)
123. B15 Project - Girls Like Us (82)
128. So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds (78)

ILM in NOT-ENOUGH-LOVE-FOR-2STEP SHOCKAH!

randy mamola, Sunday, 29 August 2004 02:56 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't believe Britney has 3 tracks and "Dirrty" didn't even make it!!! There should be a recount without the HATE VOTES!!! (I think it would have been #88 or something.)

Great job anyway Stevem, this was lots of fun! I wonder what I'll be looking forward to every morning from now on... Quick, bring on the 90's poll!

Seb (Seb), Sunday, 29 August 2004 05:52 (nineteen years ago) link

WOW Who voted for Peom-Cees? (Ned didn't vote!)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 29 August 2004 20:04 (nineteen years ago) link

Who the heck voted for Crispy Ambulance?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 11:03 (nineteen years ago) link

i will post a list sans hate votes in due course

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Tuesday, 31 August 2004 11:16 (nineteen years ago) link

Has anyone commited suicide because of these lists yet?

ILM in NOT-ENOUGH-LOVE-FOR-2STEP SHOCKAH!

I was just thinking about this tonight. I loved "Out Of Your Mind" and "Crazy Love" soooo much back in the day.

Also, what about Spiller "Groovejet" and Modjo "Lady"!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 08:45 (nineteen years ago) link

and what about No Doubt's "Hella Good" eh?????!!!!?????

(many have already said this, but it can't be said enough - thank you very much for all this Steve, you're a hero!)

Mind Taker, Wednesday, 1 September 2004 09:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Also, what about Spiller "Groovejet" and Modjo "Lady"!!!

Both of these didn't even occur to me, possibly because they now seem so long ago. It was only this morning when I suddenly thought "where the hell is Can't Get You Out Of My Head?!"

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 09:49 (nineteen years ago) link

I thought of Spiller, and the FT disdain for it.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 10:16 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't directing that comment at anyone who had posted so far, Matt. They wouldn't all though - that would be ridiculous.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 10:17 (nineteen years ago) link

Sade would have only got 2 votes

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 10:18 (nineteen years ago) link

so many radiohead songs...

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 10:18 (nineteen years ago) link
