I love a lot of these 80s classic but is nobody going to represent for "Justify My Love"? Because that song is a monster imo

but looking again at the list I see EWF's "September" which -- I mean, yeah, we all love New Order to pieces and all & yeah "True Faith" is an all-time jam for sure but "September" is an all-time all-time forever-and-always jam and just plain better.

Fuckin' wrong, JOhn. You know I love ya, but fuckin' wrong.

Both songs are 10's.

I may be relieving myself of the cumbersome burden of credibility by confessing this, but I've also always loved "Adult Eduction" by Messrs. Hall et. Oates. But still -- not even Earth, Wind, Fire, Hall & Oates or a mighty combination of all these elements at once can trump "True Faith."

"Adult Education" only suffers if you remember its video and in comparison with "Say It Isn't So."
I'd rate them:

I had a discussion about this a few weeks ago, saying how most greatest hits bonus tracks were crap (based on hearing the new Madonna one), obviously forgetting a lot on this list, esp September. As exceptions we came up with True Faith, Justify My Love and St Etienne's He's on the Phone.

The "Adult Eduction" video is like a weird combo of "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," "The Blue Lagoon" and a documentary about Max Ernst with some big shoulderpad dancing, if memory serves.

"All That Money Wants" is pretty brilliant as well.
Shit! "He's On the Phone" made my shortlist. Oh well.

for me "All That Money Wants" was one of many late-Furs numbers where I thought: fuck yes! they're good again! I've been waiting for this! it was really only fully true for "Book of Days" though I think.

'September' closely followed by 'Do I Do'.

I don't remember seeing it but this sounds awesome and I miss the days when that kind of mess was what passed for normal in music video.

voted "Runaway" because its the only one there that's one of my favorite songs by an artist I love

I am surprised that some of these were recorded for compilations (and have no idea what compilations they might have been recorded for). Another vote for "September."

September! great idea for a poll. have we done one for songs recorded for a soundtrack?

Adult Ed, edging out Dylan.
Dancing Horses was the first Echo song I hated.

ABBA were sorta robbed already at the nominations. I mean, "Fernando" and "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!"

And actually "The Day Before You Came" and "Under Attack" too.

I might have voted for PSB's "Flamboyant" had it made the list (and had I seen the poll). Probably my favorite song of theirs from the past decade. Out of this list though, I would have thrown another point to EWF.

Were any of the exclusive dylan songs on the Greatest Hits packages written for the comps? Just curious, I wondered if just had them sitting around or something.Incidentally, the Side Tracks set of nonlp stuff in the new Dylan box is fun as hell.

and damn, i had no idea True Faith was recorded for a comp (obv Substance, right?) That's crazy. New Order rule.

Yeah this song has never failed to get everyone out on the floor at any wedding I've been to. Went to my friend's wedding back in September, and I smiled a little when I realized "hey, we're dancing in September". But when I remembered that day was the 21st night of September, I went nuts and pointed it out to everyone like a grinning idiot.

I would have voted for “Watching the River Flow” (though it wasn’t “recorded specifically for a compilation”).
