"Can't Believe It" is decent up until the Wayne verse, but yeah, doesn't sound like a hit at all even given the pedigree.

not a Lil Mama teenpop booster at all and hated "Shawty Get Loose," but "What It Is (Strike A Pose)" might be my favorite T-Pain track of the year so far.

some dude, Monday, 28 July 2008 04:19 (fifteen years ago) link

two weeks pass...

i think im reaching tape store/cassie levels of t-pain fandom here

J0rdan S., Monday, 11 August 2008 07:03 (fifteen years ago) link

why is your fandom peaking now, do you think his last few months have been on the level of what he did on '07? I'm still looking forward to the new album, but if he doesn't take it to the next level with that shit and deliver something better than the singles so far I'm off the bandwagon.

some dude, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:19 (fifteen years ago) link

how is there not a single mention on this thread of the totally amazing sensory overload that is Boom?!? some people might question the wisdom of bringing in T-Pain for a guest spot when you're already using the same exact vocoder effect on your own voice, but somehow, twice as much actually does end up equaling twice as good here.

yeah i think "shawty get loose", "she got it", "cash flow" and "what it is (strike a pose)" (also "got money" but he's barely even in that) stack up pretty well with his guest spots from last year, and i like "can't believe it" a lot (mostly for the verses), at least a lot better than "bartender". mostly i was saying that just cuz on ilm im always bumping this thread w/ minimal responses that match my enthusiasm.

i think thr33 ringz is going be really really good, probably a little bloated, but there's a few people in pop music who i'd be interested in hearing totally go off the deep end, and he is one of them. idk if he's headed there or not, but in any event i think he has it in him to top epiphany, which i liked a lot but still seemed a little under what he's capable of doing. but yeah, mostly i made the reference to tape store cuz im always bumping the thread w/ super enthusiasm.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:51 (fifteen years ago) link

so here's tay dizm, the dude on the 2 pistols song that is less famous than 2 pistols himself. it's called "beam me up", with officer ross of course. always love to see the police reaching out to build a bridge with inner city youth.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDNOoAWjQRY

its a bangladesh beat and one of teddy's weirdest hooks in a minute: "my chevy sit so high up off the flo/i feel like im an alien in a ufo/i go ooooh weeeee ooohh"

J0rdan S., Sunday, 17 August 2008 21:28 (fifteen years ago) link

is it really that weird considering the t-wayne entente and that the occasional bit of space talk's been known to occur in his earlier stuff anyway? seems deeply uninspired to me.

r|t|c, Monday, 18 August 2008 01:17 (fifteen years ago) link

compared to "the boss", "she got it", "cash flow", "got money" etc i'd say yeah, it's one of the weirder things he's tried to push to radio in a while, and not really cuz of the "oooh weee ooooh" part ("mrs. officer", etc). it sounds really drugged

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 August 2008 01:22 (fifteen years ago) link

not saying its necessarily "inspired" though

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 August 2008 01:22 (fifteen years ago) link

i love him!

Khaled/Kanye/T-Pain/Runners: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCT3V_kbFKQ

could grow on me but sounds like a mess right now, especially with Kanye once again proving he's not very good with Autotune and biting Wayne hard with all the shit/vomit puns.

watching access granted of the "can't believe it" video

t-pain has 150 top hats

video will feature t-pain on a roller coaster and wayne on ferris wheel

I've gotten to the point where all "Can't Believe It" does is remind how much better this song is with Akon singing almost the exact same thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5kS9Eqk46I

haha, every time i try to watch this thing i pleasantly zone out somewhere halfway thru. still gets bitty and ott when wayne comes on, though obv this song would do less than nothing without his being there.

i also zone out in much the same way when i try to begin to fathom this glimpse of nitpicking infinity

similar titles, sung in approximately the same melody and cadence. it ain't rocket science.

some dude, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 01:16 (fifteen years ago) link

really just an excuse to remind myself that probably my fav Akon track of the last couple years was totally slept on, chartwise.

one month passes...

so "chopped n skrewed" then

this one is obv in the vein of "buy u a drank" and i think it's pretty good

between this, "can't believe it" and "silver & gold" it looks like thr33 ringz is going to way more synthetic and electronic than epiphany

so "karaoke" combines my favorite things: runners-style huge synth production, t-pain, dj khaled screaming inane shit and eliminates some of my least favorite things: verses from plies and fat joe

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 02:26 (fifteen years ago) link

you're just a swagger jacker
now i'm a certified lamborghinist and cadillacker

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 02:26 (fifteen years ago) link

You know, as not great a rapper as Fat Joe is, I don't think I've ever been annoyed by one of his verses. Even at his best, he's only decent, but he has a total knack for always being decent.

"JOE THE PLUMBER, I'LL WHUP YOUR ASS" (The Reverend), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 03:18 (fifteen years ago) link

omg "Chopped & Screwed" is crazy

2nd Black President (The Reverend), Monday, 10 November 2008 02:39 (fifteen years ago) link

fwiw my fat joe hate on this board is basically sub-trolling and has been since day 1 when the porn star meme got started (i think)

i like lots of his songs

barack husession (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 November 2008 02:44 (fifteen years ago) link

For a second I thought you were implying there was a porn star meme about Fat Joe. At which point I contemplated suicide.

2nd Black President (The Reverend), Monday, 10 November 2008 02:47 (fifteen years ago) link

this album is awesome by the way

barack husession (J0rdan S.), Monday, 10 November 2008 02:49 (fifteen years ago) link
