everybody loves am0n (J0rdan S.), Friday, 23 October 2009 20:07 (fourteen years ago) link

j.r. rotem really is the worst human being on the planet but "better in time" & "becky" are waaaayyy better than "whatcha say" which imo could've made this list!

everybody loves am0n (J0rdan S.), Friday, 23 October 2009 20:08 (fourteen years ago) link

I really, really, really appreciate Idolator for doing this difficult work. Thank You.

Shh! It's NOT Me!, Friday, 23 October 2009 20:10 (fourteen years ago) link

haha that KWS video was filmed in the local nightclub "Gloss"(now Hamilton Palace) in Hamilton (my town)

Aw, the V-Hudge song isn't THAT bad, though it is probably her worst song. Best song was a bonus track on her first album, "Don't Talk":

ditto, i suppose. although I'm not sure if it's really one of the 50 worst song of the decade. it's an inoffensively bland modern rock track. surely even 3 doors down have done worse. that awfully maudlin song from American Pie 2, for example?

7borad dudes get sb'd, frequently. (Alex in Montreal), Saturday, 24 October 2009 17:36 (fourteen years ago) link

3 doors down have def done worse. what about that song that was playing in movie theaters for months trying to get you to join the army? at least 'kryptonite,' shitty as it is, kinda earned its spot on the charts

Beyond the boundaries of your city's lights,
Stand the heroes waiting for your cries.
So many times you did not bring this on yourself,
When that moment finally comes,
I'll be there to help.

On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,
I'll be right here.
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

When there are people crying in the streets,
When they're starving for a meal to eat,
When they simply need a place to make their beds,
Right here underneath my wing,
You can rest your head.

On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,
I'll be right here!
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,
We'll always be ready because we will always be there...

There... there... there...

Hope and pray that you'll never need me,
But rest assured I will not let you down.
I'll walk beside you but you may not see me,
The strongest among you may not wear a crown.

On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care,
I'll be right here!
On that day when you don't have the strength for the burden you bear,
I'll be right here!
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair.
(Citizen soldiers)
Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered,
We'll always be ready because we will always be there.

the whole thing reeks of challoping for ilx's (one's peers: i.e., pretentious 20-some-year-olds reparazent!) favor. big fucking surprise. still, if it wasn't all so consistently obvious it may have been somewhat funnier (tho i sincerely doubt it).

the not-fun one (Ioannis), Sunday, 25 October 2009 10:57 (fourteen years ago) link

3 doors down have def done worse.

Perhaps, but if you were subjected to rock radio for upwards of 8 hours a day any time between 2000 and 2003, you heard this song enough times to make you wish for deafness. Its ubiquity alone qualifies it for the list over any other 3DD song.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 25 October 2009 11:53 (fourteen years ago) link

if you want to claim a song's ubiquity is exceptional, don't use the set up "if you were subjected to rock radio for upwards of 8 hours a day anytime between 2000 and 2003." Because, in that context, later years offer similarly ubiquitous - and worse - gold & platinum singles by three doors down.

lol wikipedia says "citizen soldier" went to #1 in australia, waht

I'm here without you babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I think.

kshighway1, Sunday, 25 October 2009 17:44 (fourteen years ago) link

and yeah, I think I heard "Kryptonite" about eight thousand fucking times when I was in, oh, seventh grade. whoever said that the band has worst songs though is completely correct. see above post.

kshighway1, Sunday, 25 October 2009 17:45 (fourteen years ago) link

* worse

Don't know where else to post this, but . . . Whiney was interviewed by the AV Club y'all:

Sample:

AVC: What is your response to the internet commenters who didn’t like your speech at the 140 Characters Conference? Some of them thought you should “just get with the times.”

CW: This goes well beyond the music-criticism industry. This is every industry right now. Where there was once jobs for 100 people in the old way of doing things, now there’s a new way of doing things where only 10 people can do it. You’re either one of those 10 people or you get fucked. I’m worried that maybe one day we’re not going to be paying for musicians. Maybe one day we’re only going to have bedroom crybaby bullshit like Wavves. I’m terrified to think the future is just going to be Pitchfork reviewing MySpace pages, because there’s not going to be anyone left to put out records or review records. It’s just going to be a series of links and an advertisement.

ha i feel bad for that wavves dude

i got nothin (deej), Sunday, 25 October 2009 19:07 (fourteen years ago) link

Like, I think Asher Roth should get punched in the balls, but [his album's] first track’s got kind of a hot beat. He got like a 1.5.
