japanese characters get romanicized many ways, wrecking havoc with my hapless attempts at googling, so yes kanishabali = kanishabari, thanks for finding that
the first 'haniwa all stars' has one bonus track, what could it be

Has anyone heard Mishio Ogawa's Killing Time band? I'm thinking of ordering a couple of their alubms. -- Patrick South (Patrick South), Sunday, April 9, 2006 3:22 PM (1 year ago) Bookmark Link
ok yes this band. bizarre orchestral jazz fusion band w/ asian hybrid styles & strange digital production flourishes, every album is a different name
BOB - hyper fusion, Crimson / Zappa moments but this could appeal to people who don't like either because it is so very strange SKIP - ep remixes from the first album that completely dismantle tracks from the first record into Faust or Nurse With Wound. great balance between music that was obviously performed live by a group and things that could not have been performed or even acoustically sounded anywhere BILL - almost a retreat -- refined 70's fusion harmonies / sonorities, still a little edgy, nice tunes at moments IRENE - side two is it, sounds like Biota producing Yoko + Koto Drummers + full symphony playing Hawaiian pop songs and they're all dying
the internet is opening up, after living with Haniwa for so many years I'm finally finding my way to all the related projects & sub-groups and it's no surprise that they're all amazing, it's like Haniwa was the key amalgamate of strange music in above-ground mainstream Japan (all of these records were on major labels & had massive recording budgets).

Looks like Haniwa is OOP again.

"Yo ga Akete" (w/ Jun Togawa) from a 1990 performance. Looks like a smaller (and cramped) version of Haniwa. I assume that it's this concert, which was apparently broadcast on TV.

thanks!
smaller = only 15 people and three full drum kits
rlarret put up two more moments from the Haniwa DVD --
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjczmnhlHAI (the violinist in the headdress is Saito Neko of Killing Time, who recorded 'Heisei Fuzoku' with Shiina Ringo last year)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pvh2OSta7hc (the penultimate number of the concert where nearly every single one of the 53 players takes a brief solo)

Chanomi Tomodachi Suresure
The fifth vocalist (or, rather, second from the right) is Shigeri Kitsu's sister Kaori (Shigeri sang Ho-hai Bushi, the second song on the DVD). I can't for the life of me figure out what the costume theme is supposed be here.

someone's posted an unreleased recording of Haniwa-chan live in 1984
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9O7HvmTZDo
track 2 is a vocal version of 'Sushi Bar', my favorite moment from the Haniwa Allstars DVD
also, Emil Scherbe (nameless monster), kindred spirit from the Shiina Ringo english-speaking forum, has been dutifully posting a wide number of Haniwa-related projects here: http://forums.electricmole.net/showthread.php?t=1262 --invaluable, as about 75% of them are kanji-tagged

sushi is pretty dope imo
