Yes, like all crime shows on TV.

well, first episode aired on english tv on saturday and, er, it was ok (probably not as good as the original series although i admit the sample size is a bit small). it's missing grissom.

liked the fact they used another Who song for the titles.

oh, and kim vs jorja - KAT FITE! 8)

I'm quite glad I missed it, then. Though I'm quite sad that I missed the conclusion of CSI: BBC or whatever it was called with the really gruesome autospy shots.

CSI:BBC aka that thing that i watched purely because the girl from randall and hopkirk was in it. yes, here's a traincrash victim that we've had in the freezer for 3 months = almost too much grue

> CSI: the Briny Deep

but The Briny Deep = out of jurisdiction of csi (wasn't that the conclusion of that one csi episode? or am i confusing it with the simpsons party on a boat?)

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 18 August 2005 15:48 (eighteen years ago) link

yes, here's a traincrash victim that we've had in the freezer for 3 months = almost too much grue

Even I had to look away, that was just utterly yuck. How did it end? I didn't see it the next night. What happened, was the doctor really an escaped mentalist, and the pills were being exchanged for the wrong thing?

Anyway, the whole point was that it was out in international waters, therefore the horrible brats with diplomatic immmunity could be picked up by the Coast Guard and arrested by the police of the country where their boat was registered, and then tried by the Canadians coz it took place on Canadian soil at the Canadian Embassy. Science didn't just win that time, LEGAL LOOPHOLES did. Hurrah.

Win A Lie-Down, Mrs. Davies (kate), Thursday, 18 August 2005 15:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh my lord. Weird connections, world really tiny, part X billion... While waiting for my code to compile, I started googling. CSI:BBC with the gruesome train autopsy is called Silent Witness. Girl from Randall & Hopkirk = Emilia Fox.

1) Emilia vs. Jorja - FOX FITE!!!!

2) She is MARRIED TO Old Rumbleguts Captain Anderson Jared Harris.

That's a bit strange and I think I may have to lie down for a bit.

rich bloke who bought a pony for his daughter had been swapping good druqx with faxor druqz and keeping the money. woman selling drugs had been using them for her own nutso daughter and gave him up, eventually.

doctor od'd but survived. he was completely innocent but felt guilty.

train crash victim had been secretly taking anti depressants, much to mother's chagrin. but that's ok because the male csi bloke's father had had the same problems and had told him that it was nobody's fault, or something. they hug and get on with life.

bank manager's wife had killed him and dog herself and them tied herself up using those nylon ties. his blood was found on the dog those exposing flaw in her story. old csi bloke lied to her about dogs gastric processes being more accurate to predict than humans and this blew all her timings. she confessed. ha ha, you fell for the oldest trick in the book. etc.

schizo artist went a bit doolally and ended up throwing himself off roof.

yes, international waters / diplomatic immunity, thankyou, i remember now. (haven't been watching the repeats and that was one of the earlier ones)

rich bloke who bought a pony for his daughter had been swapping good druqx with faxor druqz and keeping the money.

Oh, I'm glad. He really annoyed me and I didn't like it, and besides that whole "Oh daddy, a PONY!!!" scene made me want to poke his eyes out with a pencil.

but that's ok because the male csi bloke's father had had the same problems and had told him that it was nobody's fault, or something. they hug and get on with life.

I found that really annoying in the first bit - where they did the old "I don't know anything about schitzophrenia, why don't you tell me what it is? Is it like Bipolar disorder?" clearly for the edification of the viewer because proper CSIs are SCIENTISTS and would know all about brain chemistry already. Humph. (I'm surprised that there wasn't a whole "if you have been affected by any of the issue on this programme, call the BBC hotline and blah blah blah")

bank manager's wife had killed him and dog herself and them tied herself up using those nylon ties

Ha ha! Yeah, I thought so. Killing her husband was understandable, but killing her dog... a bit excessive. Gave her away. She didn't seem upset by it.

schizo artist went a bit doolally and ended up throwing himself off roof.

Aw, that's a shame. I liked him. Mainly because he refused to go along with all the bullshit artspeak that his agent was spouting.

Do you mean Wolf? *urgh* No. No. NOOOOOO. He's like a genetically mismanaged werewolf. I prefer the lab boy in CSI Las Vegas. ROWR.

I never get to see Grissom because I am rarely in on Saturday nights. Which I find rather distressing.

But Mysterious New Boy almost makes up for the EEEEEEVIL that is Ginger CSI. Almost.

x-post, his name is WOLF?!???! Oh, I love him even more, he could be Bobby G's child all growned up.

Didn't Lab Boy finally get out in the field? Or are we thinking of different Lab Boys? the one with the blond highlights who was well into indierock?

I am watching an episode for the first time in about ten years and it’s visually extraordinary. It’s a newer episode and clearly done on a tiny fraction of the old budget but the garish saturated colours, cheap fabrics and digital texture are fascinating in combination. My other half described it as looking like a PS3 cut scene.
