I don't think it's really a 'client list'? I think it's just a list of people that were either witnesses, or somehow referenced in the trial

Things you said at parties that were funny once. unless I was there and witnessed it, it's very unentertaining to hear you talk about a thing you said once. but it works if someone else is telling the story

Jack Black / Tenacious D. I don't find him funny or original at all.

I have friends that love him/them a lot and I therefore don't outwardly shit on them, but...yeah, it was a 'baconing' band for sure

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Friday, 8 March 2024 16:03 (two months ago) link

Don't find him funny now but I thought the original 97-2000 HBO show was hilarious at the time. It was just so weird and unlike anything else that was around. I only just now, when I went to the wiki page to confirm the years, learned that Sasquatch was John C. Riely omg. Think the last thing I saw Back in was school of rock lol.

birthdays are great, it's really nice to celebrate the day someone was born. the bar for me to care about your birthday is not that high! i don't have to like you, i don't even have to know you. but you have to be alive.

if you are dead, i don't care about your birthday

A street taco cart named Des'ree (Deflatormouse), Friday, 8 March 2024 17:14 (two months ago) link

birthdays are great, but having birthweeks where you do different activities every day and tell yr friends "come to whichever you want or come to all" = dud.

not saying that having a b'day celebration w/ family one day, friends another = a big deal, but like the co-worker harbl once talked about who basically spent an entire month celebrating their 30th birthday and had like 15 celebrations of it

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Friday, 8 March 2024 17:17 (two months ago) link

A street taco cart named Des'ree (Deflatormouse), Friday, 8 March 2024 17:18 (two months ago) link

i'll celebrate all you want if there are enough balloons

A street taco cart named Des'ree (Deflatormouse), Friday, 8 March 2024 17:19 (two months ago) link

actually, you know what, i would care about your birthday if you are dead and there are balloons.

i walked past a cemetery on the way to the beach one day last summer, and someone had left a lot of mylar balloons on a grave, i almost cried!

I'll go further

you don't have a birthday after you die, that's not what birthdays are, person x who died would not have been 100 today that's not how it works, they died

close encounters of the third knid (darraghmac), Friday, 8 March 2024 19:33 (two months ago) link

maybe they're necromancers

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Friday, 8 March 2024 19:35 (two months ago) link

in which case surely more interested in deathday?

Agree with this 1000%. I will occasionally use the phrase "anniversary of [PERSON]'s birth" if I want to call out some artist whose work I admire, but that's it.

CEO Greedwagon (Neanderthal), Friday, 8 March 2024 19:57 (two months ago) link

We definitely need to be stricter about allowing that. I say you have to specify "heavenly birthday" AND you have to have known the deceased intimately. Nancy Sinatra recently sent one of those out to Peter Fonda and it was too cute to object to.

I will occasionally use the phrase "anniversary of PERSON's birth" if I want to call out some artist whose work I admire, but that's it.

but... that's... the same thing??

but most of my friends are in Hell

Presumably where you go if you've wished person x a happy birthday at any time since 1980 where person x = John Lennon
