not saying anything about the quality of any rapper who assumes such a name, just that it's a good name is all.
also, there will be exceptions that prove the rule, etc... (e.g. Constantine is a good name for a rapper, but it's under the Vertigo imprint)

Taserface is a great name for a rapper.

no one wants to see stripper named Punisher. well, maybe someone.

Philip Nunez, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:27 (1 year ago) Permalink

i get that superhero names are good for rappers (probably started with reggae djs) but don't get the stripper assertion at all

Mister Miracle - both male stripper and decent rap name.

yeah, where does this DC character names = strippers meme come from? makes no sense. "batman" would make a shitty stripper name.

Xp Same for Darkseid; are DC Kirby characters exempt from this assertion?

there's an old canard about Marvel being more realistic (set in NYC, deals with everyman angst) and DC off in goofball unrelatable superpowers land. I don't know how much of that is true today, but the names do seem to mesh well as evoking gritty realism for Marvel (i.e. good for rap names) and over-the-top fantasy for DC (good for strippers).

batman is a pretty good stripper name in the sense that catwoman is also a pretty good stripper name.
fourth world names will always be problematic. would you rather see desaad do MC battle or strip?

Kirby creates his own rules so sure. "Big Barda" ftw.

Basically, I'm deeply gratified to have lived to see someone to even cursorily note the deep affinities that superheroes and strippers share

i'm trying to make this work and just can't. the hulk, iron man, spider man, angel, phoenix, storm, mr fantastic: these all would seem to work as "stripper names" at least as well as batman.
