The cutoff is try to get it in by the time you go to bed tonight, whenever that is. I'll be closing polls officially tomorrow or Wednesday.

LL otm re: let's scare jessica
also wish I had done more pregame repping for lemora, a child's tale of the supernatural. reminiscent of valerie and her week of wonders, except replace the hippie-dippie surrealism with bava-does-southern-grotesque.

i'm sorry to report that lemora was among the last 5 i cut -- but it is SO GREATif you have an extra vote to give, consider donating it to jessica, valerie, or lemora. they all deserve it.

Also it's really a shame that more people haven't seen Demon Lover Diary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206681/) -- it's not technically horror (although it's about making a horror movie), but there's a real menacing vibe to it that would make it a horror movie if it weren't a documentary.

Horror on Sorority Hill (or whatever it was called) was pretty bad. Also my personal worst is FEAR DOT COM. I can't believe I sat through that.

Sorority Row? i thought it was aight, in the way that shitty new mainstream horror flicks often carry on the spirit of old B-movie slasher flicks better than deliberate 'grindhouse' homages or whatever.
― some dude, Monday, 7 May 2012 14:27 (eleven years ago) link
Yeah, I just remember thinking it was lazy and uninspiring.
I am also bummed that I missed the chance to vote for Insidious, which I really liked in spite of the stupid ghostbusters comedy thread. I also forgot what it was called.
― former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 7 May 2012 14:33 (eleven years ago) link
pretty sure it was called insidious
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Monday, 7 May 2012 14:36 (eleven years ago) link
verb tense!clearly i do not continue to forget

also since you cut lemora from yr ballot I'm dropping the wicker man from mine

ok that hurt
― former personal denim advisor to the mayor, (La Lechera), Monday, 7 May 2012 14:39 (eleven years ago) link
If everyone instead focused on cutting Jack Frost from their ballots, then we'd all have room for both Wicker Man and Lemora.

Every list needs at least one "winter SLAY-ride!" though, so choose wisely.

have to confess that i still haven't seen lemora. i wish you had pushed it itt, edward, cuz i've been meaning to see it for years, and it looks like exactly the sort of thing i'd love (valerie made my list*, and that's borderline horror at best).
* wicker man too, of course

I have finished all my work commitments, so now it is head down, full steam ahead, non-stop editing of horror ballot.
Too late for me to get any more watching in, sadly...

argh, still have to edit mine and it's going to have to wait until after work. sorry!!

*kicks self*
lemora is by no means perfect, but the carefully composed lighting and set design plus fairy tale trappings elevate the proceedings above its limitations. def more of a horror movie than valerie.

love gozu and want to vote for it but I'm not sure if it's really a horror movie.
guys, is gozu horror?

sure, parts of it definitely are

Been forever since I've seen it - can't remember much beyond Yakuza skins and dialogue off cue cards.
Nonetheless, it's on the list of nominees - go ahead and vote for it.

overall, it's probably not horror, but it's definitely worth voting for, even on the thinnest of excuses.

Are you talking about the end of the first miniseries? I'll assume that you are, seeing as how that was one of the most WTF?!?! things I've ever seen.

my list turned out like 33 percent canon, 33 percent childhood faves, 33 percent indefensible nonsense.
unlike ed3, i was surprised how many 21st century flicks showed.
― jesus christ (strongo hulkington's ghost dad), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 00:57 (eleven years ago) link
I think my list is relatively canon - I'm expecting the majority of my top ten to place, and place high.
Seeing as I did a decade breakdown of my ballot for the comedy poll, I figured it wouldn't be too spoilery to do one for this:
1920s - 21930s - 21940s - 11950s - 01960s - 161970s - 181980s - 91990s - 22000s - 02010s - 0
