it reminds me of friends i had growing up who had 40 year old moms that would tape photos to the fridge of 20 year old models they cut out of Cosmo and Redbook, as a way of somehow motivating them to lose weight

i'm a visual person, and visual reminders can be effective motivators... but still, the whole practice of anyone participating in something like this after finishing the 9th grade is such a bummer to me
