erotic war comedy pollster (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 21:33 (twelve years ago) link

wonderful! we skipped small world because a) that song and b) tired, but now i really wish we'd done it. it looks amazing!

my favorite part was the peter pan ride. oh, and i loved the tiki room. no one told me the flowers sing too!

lxy, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 17:27 (twelve years ago) link

Peter Pan ride is great but I think it is also actually the shortest ride in the park...? Like, under 2 minutes.

Tiki Room is so great, dunno why we didn't get any pictures (flash photography might've been prohibited, I don't remember)

erotic war comedy pollster (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 17:30 (twelve years ago) link

one thing that really struck me about these rides this time around is how uniformly amazing the sound design is - all these different audio tracks fading in and out as you move through the ride, every few feet something different and distinct gets your attention, but it's never overwhelming or deafening (well unless there's explosions lol)

three weeks pass...

just found this blog that is all about the 1980's futuristic Epcot ride HORIZONS

http://mesaverdetimes.blogspot.com/

before it was closed in the 90s, these dudes jumped out of their cars multiple times and walked around inside the ride and and explored it thoroughly while shooting lots of photos and videos:

that shit would just weird me out.

like I couldn't be the guy who dusts off abraham lincoln's cheekbones, knowing some prankster would flick the switch and make his eyeballs wink at me.

I think it's the America exhibit at Epcot where an anthromatic Teddy Roosevelt on a horse appears for a robotic look at the beginnings of the 20th Century. All I can think about is the hole those robots went down into and how they just sit there motionless until the next time they rise up into the sunrise.

^^ yep. Teddy and Audobon have a heated exchange.

Meanwhile this blog analyses the twilight in which American cuisine lived for most of the seventies and eighties.

then they both chill like Han Solo for another 45 minutes.

it was my sister's turn to alert me to important disney news:

ngl my immediate reaction was "hmmm, if i were to give birth inside disneyland, i wonder where i'd do it"

feel like there's something sinister going on here, we are not being told the "whole story."

techno pink (reddening), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:29 (twelve years ago) link

feel like the disney characters are waving larry forward to "bring out the kid in him" via his intestines

boy in the striped shirt gets a kickback, really gets off on the gentle trust in the eyes of his victims

techno pink (reddening), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:33 (twelve years ago) link

is pluto playful waving his ear, or is he surreptitiously making the "hanged man" gesture as a way of mocking larry's fatal ignorance?

pplains, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:43 (twelve years ago) link

Was it Disney that used to have the ad of the parents becoming children so by the end of the ad, the mom was a little girl standing next to her son?

wasn't weird at all

fka snush (remy bean), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:50 (twelve years ago) link

why the hell would you go to Disneyland so very pregnant

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:51 (twelve years ago) link

babies born in the park get a lifetime pass iirc

Disco Bob & MC Criminal (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:52 (twelve years ago) link

no, that's only if your roommate kills himself on the Matterhorn.

pplains, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:12 (twelve years ago) link

babies conceived in the park are banned for life iirc

Disco Bob & MC Criminal (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:16 (twelve years ago) link

but the placenta stays

Moodles, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:18 (twelve years ago) link

placentas are interred underneath the park entrance's statue of Mickey and Walt iirc

Disco Bob & MC Criminal (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:21 (twelve years ago) link

thanking u thread, i have stopped wondering where in the park i would have a baby and have moved on to "where in the park would i hide the placenta."

put it in the display window of the turkey leg cart and see how long it takes anyone to notice

techno pink (reddening), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:17 (twelve years ago) link

Two things I can't forgive: Cheney authorizing torture and Disney tourists in August tearing into turkey legs.

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:21 (twelve years ago) link

a lot of people think the "haunted mansion" is childish and not very scary...but what if i told you that one of those old-fashioned trunks in the attic was literally packed with human placentas

techno pink (reddening), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:29 (twelve years ago) link

what if I told you it was packed with 200-year-old turkey legs

Haunted Mansion rules, fuiud

Moodles, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:34 (twelve years ago) link

the placenta and turkey legs are just the icing on the cake, to mix my metaphors a bit...

Moodles, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:34 (twelve years ago) link

i love the haunted mansion too! but you gotta admit that if piles of human and/or turkey flesh were just kind of heaped everywhere throughout it would really take it to the next level
