Fletcher has maybe been a bit of a sicknote, which may've scared bigger clubs away. This run has been the longest sustained period of fitness he's managed with Wolves. He's better than a goal poacher but not a complete forward by any means, one of those guys who gets himself in the right spot and has the talent and composure to convert the chances he gets, but imo he goes missing for stretches - he's never gonna be the team engine. But if he can score 15 plus in a Prem season that's a valuable commodity right there.

you're lucky ilf doesn't tend toward the hypersensitivity of the rest of the site with that attitude imo

'how can I be sexist, totti is one of my favourite players?'

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 21:01 (twelve years ago) link

interesting that the sky sports news ticker doesn't reveal the nature of ravel morrison's alleged twitter comments. they're just "twitter comments".

Chris, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 21:56 (twelve years ago) link

do they mention that they're homophobic at least? I mean I wouldn't expect them to break out the other f word.

pandemic, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 21:58 (twelve years ago) link

loves his banter does ravel

The term “hipster racism” from Carmen Van Kerckhove at Racialicious (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 21:58 (twelve years ago) link

not to my knowledge. every time i've seen it mentioned, from when he was charged to today, they haven't mentioned homophobia once. not on the scrolling ticker anyway.

Chris, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 22:01 (twelve years ago) link

It's a long word innit

Number None, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 22:02 (twelve years ago) link

longsight word

Walter Smith for Wolves!

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 11:39 (twelve years ago) link

He's still not favourite though, that's Steve Bruce

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 11:41 (twelve years ago) link

If you just want to stay up and don't care how mind-numbingly tedious the process of staying up is, I'd go with Smith over Bruce

or mick mccarthy

This is looking less and less like a masterstroke with each passing lol

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 11:46 (twelve years ago) link

Is it just the short term thing or is something else happening in these interviews that sends candidates running and screaming? Except Brucey of course.

being expected to outperform mmc with those players, tbh

Meanwhile having made one league appearance this season, well known spelling mistake Fraizer Campbell is called up to the England squad. Psycho by name!

How is Scott Carson doing, does anyone actually have a clue?

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:05 (twelve years ago) link

No doubt little Frank will point to the sky and think of his dear old mum when he makes a triumphant return to the squad as captain under uncle 'arry.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:09 (twelve years ago) link

How many right backs does one squad need??

Don't know but I'd be praying Joe Hart doesn't get injured before the Euros

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:12 (twelve years ago) link

Smalling and Jones aren't really right backs tbf (apart from in the way that every Utd player is in a spiritual sense)

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:14 (twelve years ago) link

lol love the concept, even though i may have invented it

huh? fraizer campbell?

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:21 (twelve years ago) link

funnily enough quite a lot of the google results for "team of right-backs" are from Spurs forums. There are a few ilx ones in there as well though (including a bemused NBS asking where the where the whole thing came from)

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:24 (twelve years ago) link

why didnt the Ox get a call up?

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:27 (twelve years ago) link

"He's played only a handful of games," Pearce said of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

"Alex is playing extremely well for the under-21s and if we elevated him into the senior squad and he played for 10 minutes then I can't see what the footballing education would be."

James Mitchell, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:31 (twelve years ago) link

of course logically most teams have a higher number of potential right-backs than any other position. Simply because there are more right footed players and with full-back seen as a lower risk position than centre-back you're more likely to get non-specialist players filling in there in the case of injury

Number None, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:33 (twelve years ago) link

this is an outrage

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:33 (twelve years ago) link

Pearce out.

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:35 (twelve years ago) link

nn otm, of course, rooney should absolutely be selected at a less risky position befitting his power and stamina as opposed to clogging this once-great nation's entire attack

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:39 (twelve years ago) link

Hadn't even noticed Rooney in there. So much for his exile 'til June.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 12:41 (twelve years ago) link

if Bruce takes the Wolves job at this point he is beneath dignity

FPocalypto! (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 23 February 2012 13:02 (twelve years ago) link

We're all going to seem so foolish now when Capello takes the job

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 23 February 2012 13:04 (twelve years ago) link

"He's played only a handful of games," Pearce said of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Fraizer Campbell = 4 league appearances in 2 seasons

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 February 2012 13:13 (twelve years ago) link

I had totally forgotten Fraizer Campbell even existed and he actually played for us for a bit. Clearly he's cashing in on a bet that he made with Psycho three years ago.
