im sure this is just a case where you alluded to depression in one of your fairly lengthy posts alongside some unrelated lamentable nonsense and criticism of the latter was taken for mockery of illness

theres nothing unreasonable in criticizing someone for saying something untowards in an otherwise confessional context, just as in orbit criticized your use of 'tranny', although in that instance i did not criticize you because it related to a traumatic experience

xp reading that over, i just want to point out that i wasn't always this bad. i mean, i was always a little socially awkward, but nothing like over the past few years. i've had pretty much straight depression for 10 years now and it has turned my brain into mush. this is definitely not something you want to leave unchecked.

Spectrum, this site is a lot of great things but it's not always a safe space to be vulnerable, at least once you venture into certain threads. I had a hard time with this too at first, but I don't think you should be hard on yourself. Just try to remember what ilx is and what it isn't

i don't generally comment on threads like the depression thread, which i don't always read regularly in any case, and where i can imagine the (unlikely, hypothetical) consequences of someone taking advice that i give without any special insight and that turns out to be poor advice in the long run

that said i would like to express the uncontroversial hope that you find a good psychoanalyst/psychotherapist, and are able to work with them in the medium to long term if necessary, and that while the straightforwardly curative model of physiological medicine might not obtain, there is from what i have read of psychoanalysis (not a huge amount since reading about ten volumes of the collected freud years ago) the eminent possibility of success, with the definition of that success being half of the therapy

thanks for the support and uhhh, minding the personal crisis in the clusterfuck thread. to wrap up some ilx lore, i used to post as burt_stanton, which was like 6 years into this mess. by that time my mind had gone completely out the window, which might come as a surprise to you all, and there was an actual person underneath all that crap. like, things were so bad for me that i was afraid sweaters were wussy!! like, what the hell is that? i don't even know where all that stuff came from. but i'm going to get this shit checked out because i'm done with this. anyway, i think i've had more than my fair share of time bleating about my problems.
