i wonder if he's producing or what.

According to this, he's an executive producer.

Because apparently doing every single job on 6.5 hrs of Tv a year isn't enough? I'm less concerned about CBS fucking up as I am about it getting in the way of Louie in some way.

Simon H., Monday, 30 January 2012 20:17 (twelve years ago) link

But given Louis' willingness to walk away from his FX deal

wait what?

dave cool it (stevie), Monday, 30 January 2012 22:00 (twelve years ago) link

When he made his proposal to FX, he basically said to them, "If you don't meet these conditions, I'm not doing the show."

i dont find this show very funny outside of the standup segments, and i cant really get past that. i guess everyone else is able to cut loose and enjoy it for the oddity that it is, but it just doesnt do much for me. there are definitely times where i appreciate the things it does that no other show would even attempt - like the "who are you" singalong in the racist grandma ep - and there's a lot of those moments to be sure, buuuut, i dunno. ive only seen a few of the s2 eps, so i need to see the whole thing i suppose. the one where he gives pam adlon a big speech about his real feelings for her really... did not work for me.

Hungry4Ass, Monday, 30 January 2012 23:06 (twelve years ago) link

that was my favorite episode!

lukas, Monday, 30 January 2012 23:07 (twelve years ago) link

if you approach this show expecting laffs then you are doing it wrong imo

Autumn Almanac (Schlafsack), Monday, 30 January 2012 23:16 (twelve years ago) link

well i certainly dont EXPECT laughs from it anymore, but i dont find the weird half hour dramedy thingie that it is particularly compelling either.

Hungry4Ass, Monday, 30 January 2012 23:18 (twelve years ago) link

yeah, it's really more of an experiment than a comedy and i love it for that

Hungry 4 ass, you need to watch season 1! so much better than season 2

Iago Galdston, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 00:22 (twelve years ago) link

i watched most of s1! i think i missed 2 or 3 eps

Hungry4Ass, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 00:24 (twelve years ago) link

nuh uh xp
but yeah watch it if you haven't!, obv. i was thinking 'only some of s2, all of s1'

this was only the realest shit he ever wrote

ha ha, so otm

quick brown fox triangle (schlump), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 00:28 (twelve years ago) link

that would speak poorly for his standup if it was true! (its not)

Hungry4Ass, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 00:29 (twelve years ago) link

love both but s2 >>>>> s1 imo

Simon H., Tuesday, 31 January 2012 00:34 (twelve years ago) link

I liked season 1 was better. I was sort of bored of it by the time I finished season 2. I like the show but I generally prefer his standup.

her HBO show Girls looks like it might not be as bad as Tiny Furniture

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 20:17 (twelve years ago) link

Tiny Furniture was dope, so I will def watch Girls.

I wonder if Chris Eigeman is gonna be a regular or just a guy who pops up in one ep. Saw him in the trailer.

If ILX does a most hated poll, I'm voting Tiny Furniture

let's please not sully Louie's thread with Tiny Furniture handwringing

encarta it (Gukbe), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 20:27 (twelve years ago) link

i mean, once Morbs sniffs out a Dunham/Apatow collab he'll breach the walls of the thread and we'll have nowhere to run

ILG is thankfully still safe.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 20:29 (twelve years ago) link

lol for a little too long I was trying to figure out why ppl's first association with Ashley Tisdale was some random thing called Tiny Furniture and not High School Musical, and what Jeff Dunham had to do with any of it

"If people end up thinking I'm a pussy, terrific. As long as it's compelling and they say, 'Let's watch that pussy on TV next week."

Louis bails on Radio & Television Correspondents’ Association dinner, possibly because Greta Van Sustern didn't like his tweet about Sarah Palin being a "retard-making cunt."

i remember those tweets; he was drunk and on an airplane.

i like when he just posts "aids" at the end of his tweets for no reason.

He uses filthy language about women…..yes, the C word…and yes, even to describe a woman candidate for Vice President of the United States. It isn’t just Governor Palin he denigrates. He denigrates all women and looks to the crowd to laugh.

it is kinda funny, even that he was asked, because he so obviously contravenes so many no-go areas, but has a reprieve on account of it evidently being thoughtful & obviously layered in reflection and commentary and self-criticism. it's complicated to object to the objection that a guy who calls women cunts shouldn't be the comedian doing the white house dinner, even though i totally think he should be the guy doing the white house dinner. so i guess it is sad that the media is reductive and people are indictable on such flimsy readings of their character.
