"Charlton Heston is an axiom" is a quote from a notorious Michel Mourlet article in 1960 issue of Cahiers. It's the quintessential example of MacMahonism, the late 1950s French film cult that praised Hollywood trash and butch actors/directors. Mourlet's essay is the hetero version of Jack Smith's paean to Maria Montez. Big influence on the French New Wave.
