So, sarahel, how are you? You have totally groovy contributions and ways. I, a rube, know nothing about you. ie are you a lady or a gentleman? Are you a mod or a rocker? Do you like seafood, or does it remind you of baby mice? Would you rather watch T2 or Total Recall? These are the things I wonder about you, sarahel.

kind-hearted, sensitive keytar player (Abbott), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 20:46 (fourteen years ago) link

kinda going through a midlife crisis right now. That life's calling thread is really apropos right now. I've basically been doing a particular thing for almost 10 years, and for most of that time I felt like it was improving/progressing, and now I feel like it's not, and I feel like throwing in the towel.

I'm female ... almost 35.

I love seafood, though I'm curious about anti-coagulating baby mice. I don't want to eat them, though.

T2 > Total Recall.

This is spooky because less than 5 mins ago I was wondering to myself - who is this Sarahel? All of a sudden she's posting all the time? It is mysterious. I'm glad that Abbie gets right to the pt.

The roof constitutes an introduction, sort of? Or the prompting of one.

ilx since January
west coast (6th generation Californian) except for a 4 year tour of duty on the east coast for college in Providence. I left Providence before the Olneyville/noise scene got going. I end up explaining this to people who ask why I didn't stay. The things they associate with Providence -- that I would ostensibly be into -- weren't happening at the time.

I am a fan of sarahel, because she gets into the spirit of things with a game enthusiasm and a spry levity. I will leave the catechism for others to compose.

I find LJ fascinating because he seems like a fictional character created by some bored middle-aged person as a creative exercise.

Does it ever frustrate you that people call country matters by his initial or HI DERE by his first name (Dan) and 1000x other similar things? Did ILX have a learning curve for you?

xp elmo - the first one. I was the first person in my California-bred family to go to college outside of California. My grandmother thought it was frivolous, because there are plenty of good schools in California. She later changed her mind once she realized that it would give her another excuse to travel.

xp abbott - the budget thing - this shit keeps happening. It happened 10 years ago. I don't know when/why the state got so dysfunctional. I was less surprised by Prop 8 passing than my friends that had moved to CA from other places.

Milton kinda looks like he could be my bf's older brother. I don't want to embarrass MP any further - he's kinda shy like that.

it's possible! I had kinda a bad reputation there ... nothing too significant or noteworthy ... but still, to the point where I sometimes hope that people don't remember me. I met a former classmate at a professional event, and he fortunately did not remember who I was.

incomprehensible Kool-Aid swallower (sarahel), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:18 (fourteen years ago) link

Most of the folks I know are computer ppl: 4D4m Sm1th '97, Chr1st1 4nd3rs3n '97 , G30rg3 K31th '95-'96 (also a big Irish fiddle dude)... There was also a dude named D4n J0hns0n who was in my high school class who went there on a running scholarship to study engineering (he was '95) and a pre-med cellist named L1s4 M1lls ('97). (There are others I was introduced but I'm blanking on names now; one I think was named B3tsy Hurd and I think she was '96...? And maybe Sc0tt R0l4nd '97? Plus a ton of other computer guys I haven't seen since like 1999.)

her performance (ie, her pubes) stood out for me (HI DERE), Tuesday, 7 July 2009 21:25 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh yeah, this dude named J0sh Br0wn, I can't remember if he was '96 or '97.

(I used to live with G30rg3 and 4d4m, which is how I met all of these people.)

xp Dan: fuck - 4D4m, L1s4, and Sc0tt were all housemates of mine. Sc0tt, his now-wife, me, my bf at the time and another housemate all did shrooms together on the 4th of July once. We played Boggle waiting for them to kick in.

can't find any rolling thread for music marketing/PR ppl

i started volunteering for a local music festival, so i said i would do publicity, and they finally sent me a copy of the press list, and i think it hasn't been updated in 10 years

so far I've got:
one contact that died 9 yrs ago
a dozen contacts for two major local publications that are defunct
almost every other publication leads to a "buy this domain" page
