I managed to finish the 8x8 puzzle today but it broke my brane.

I did the very first Kenken published in the NYT, and then sort of forgot about it. Now I'm back! I didn't realize the NYT had a handy flash puzzle. I've finished the first 4 today, will work on hardest 2 when I get home.

my dad was doing the 8x8s and 9x9s--he completed a couple, no calculator, i was impressed.

ive slowly been getting better but the crossword is more my thing.

I didn't quite realize until shown that you could entire tiny little "candidates," which makes the 8x8 a little more doable.

I'm really liking Ken Ken. The six square one is requiring me to xerox it to figure out the possible permutations.

OK, this turns out to be the way to go with some of the harder puzzles, otherwise you can drive yourself crazy trying to backtrack to exactly the right place. I use a piece of graph paper in case I don't have access to printer/copy machine.

The jump from "pretty easy" to "omg impossible" is faster with kenken than any other type of puzzle I can think of.
