Heart attack, aged 73. Ski Sunday was one of my favourite programmes when I was much younger, it's really never been anywhere close to what it was since he left.

Just saving everyone else the bother.

Ski Sunday was good, despite DV seemingly knowing chuff all about skiing.

RIP. He seemed like a nice bloke. Do they still say "wages time" on the snooker?

Incredible gravelly voice, it should be pointed out, really thick and husky. None of his Ski Sunday stuff appears to be on YouTube, which is a pity - am feeling quite nostalgic for hearing him yelling Alberto Tomba down the hill.

I'm sure there's plenty of Superstars footage to be found.

He was quoted in the Guardian on, I think, Saturday about the demotion of Clive Everton from the BBC snooker commentary team. RIP.

It's also occurred to me that, when I was a kid, I definitely never thought David Vine was from Britain, his voice was just that strange. I assumed he was from, like, Canada or somewhere - Devon never entered my radar.
