I was just looking at nme.com (research purposes) and got thrown on to http://internetscannerlive.com, which said it was scanning site for viruses.
Had a similar thing earlier on.
Is this the "poisoned DNS" thing I was reading about?

thought it was more likely to be some nonsense shitness at the NME's end. hang on ...

at the very least get a mccafee site advisor-type program verifies the actual web address(although it doesn't scan for things per se, forgot the one that does it) lifehacker touched upon this type of thing a while back.

Thing is, it happened on my Mac at home this morning and now on my PC at work, which has McAfee. Odd.

(it was accuweather.com then. on both occasions it's started on the homepage OK and then clicking through to another page caused the "alert, alert" thing)

i had weirdness yesterday as well, some odd popunder window that was a single line of text and also had 2e.tmp in the task manager window just before my pc shutdown all on its own. nothing looked untoward when i restarted but these things are sneaky.

I just can't remember regular sites like nme.com and accuweather.com ever doing that before. I think it's the end of the world.

Do you have any anti-spyware (Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D) programs on your computers? If so, update and run them.

yeah, it happened to me the other day on an unlikely site and hasn't repeated. also a mac user, and imagine it's not an issue on my/our end.

Never happened to me.
― stevienixed, Saturday, 12 July 2008 14:25 (fifteen years ago) link

like the notion i've got of your never having seen either of the first two coasts. or apparently not knowing what a blended haircut is. but thanks for your personal comments.

I am right on the shining edge of being banned forever aren't I?
― kenan, Saturday, 12 July 2008 15:32 (fifteen years ago) link
