I've rewatched the finale three times now... and had a dirty dream about Sawyer in which he saved me from various terrible situations while we were in Basra, of all places. Perhaps I was trying to figure out what Sayid did there. Anyway, when I woke up I felt guilty w/r/t my boyfriend. Now -that's- a dream!

Do we (or anyone?) know the season five return date?

I always get hopeful that the new season will start on/around my birthday (mid feb) so I have an excuse for another LOST party, but it never does ;_;

mid-feb is kinda the perfect time for fav tv shows to come back as at that point winter feels like it will never end

Every episode is an excuse for a Lost party! My boyfriend and I had a few, inviting two other couples, and now we three couples rotate having parties at each of our homes. A good excuse to drink red wine on a Thursday night!
I just moved into the same Triplex as one of the other couples so I need a new summer TV show idea! Or more backyard euchre.

Last party involved Dharma Cake and Dharma Beers, crisps etc. Prep took hours and hours. I don't have time every episode!

That finale was such an anticlimax. I am feeling like I might not watch the sixth season, but then I've been saying that before the last two 24s.

Only two seasons left. Why give up now?

I was thinking the island doesn't really move but only appears to move because of a time shift, like what Halliwax was saying about the bunny right before the tape gets rewound

i felt like the donkey wheel overly mechanistic island go bloop reaffirmed the shows commitment to the pulpy comic book end of the spectrum steez - which i fully support - its like the button pushing all over again

This was my favorite finale episode of the series; I hate/am impressed by them for leaving the story in a such a state. What if we don't even see the island again until season 6?

Didn't Ben travel to Oct 2005, and that's when the off-island story takes place? The island's Dec 26 2004 at this point I think. Did I get that wrong?

By the time we get to Bentham's funeral, it's probably around 2007/8, given Aaron's age (being at least 2 or 3 years old). I also doubt they'll drop the island thing completely, especially since they've got all that time to cover to see how Locke messes up the island, filler to pad out the O6 returning to the island which will probably take the entire season (and we should damn well see what happened to Sawyer/Juliet/Rose/Bernard/Charlotte/Daniels/Miles!).

I feel kinda proud, because I recently convinced a friend of mine to get back on the bandwagon after dropping out during early Season 3. (Amazingly he had not been spoiled about the huge show-changing twist of "Through the Looking Glass" all year!) He just finished up that season, and has yet to watch any of Season 4.

About this 'Constant' thing...

Has this been confirmed as a phenomenon firmly rooted in the series, or was it something suggested on ILX? Is it really a lead, and should we look out for more 'pairings'? I forgot about the 'status' of this.

i think the island re-appeared right near where the fake plane wreckage was placed. because this show doesn´t do ridiculous coincidences quite enough.

The constant thing only becomes an issue if people have gone off the island on the wrong bearing. Haven't noticed anyone else becoming unstuck yet, although Faraday probably will as he's floating god knows where now.

It's the title of an episode, which was specifically about people (whose consciousnesses are time-travelling as a result of exposure to electromagnetic radiation) needing Constants, so yeah i think you could say it definitely is part of the show.

so far only Desmond+Penny, Desmond+Daniel have been confirmed as 'constant' pairings.

Locke was also in the hatch when it imploded so he may be able to time-travel as well, if he somehow finds himself on the wrong bearing. If he does have a constant (someone present in both his past and his future) then it's probably... Richard Alpert?

It seemed like they followed the right bearing in the helicopter, though there was a descrepancy between Faraday's bearing and the one Ben gave to Michael and Walt--though they were close (305 and 325 I think.) So if Ben was right, then maybe the time sickness is taking a really long time to catch up to them.

I just read that one of the series regulars that's been on since season 1 won't be back next season but WILL be back in season 6. I'm guessing it's Claire.

Yeah, I have heard it's Claire. Season 5 is supposed to be about getting back to the island and 6 about what happens once they get back, so it makes sense.

Hopefully the absence of one pretty Blonde will give them enough screen space for LIBBY! I want to see some crazy Widmore flashbacks in which we find out she was working for or related to Charles! There has to be some explanation for her being in Hurley's hospital and giving Desmond the boat - not to mention her showing up in Michael's hallucinations (considering he killed Ana Lucia too - unless Michelle Roderiguez just wasn't available for an appearance..)

Libby is my big irritant among all the unsolved mysteries of Lost... she's had a bunch of different lives and they even mentioned her during the press conference when they said "Boone Carlisle, Charlie Pace and Libby all survived but died" - they're so set on hiding her name! Not to mention the craziness of Desmond running off and coming back conveniently in time to miss her arrival on the beach and subsequent death.

Yeah I'd really love her to be back on since they've pretty much left her story hanging for two seasons now. and cause the show is seriously lacking female characters right now. i mean, for all the fuss that Harold Perrineau made about black characters dying on the show, surely females get a rawer deal - not counting redshirts, we've so far lost shannon, ana-lucia, libby, colleen, bea klugh, nikki, isabel, danielle and alex, plus claire for next season.

from the men's side, there's: boone, ethan, goodwin, nathan, eko, tom, pickett, paolo, charlie, mikail, the doc, keamy, michael and maybe jin - but then there are far more central male characters on Lost than females.

It's funny, I just assumed that because of Christian's appearance at the last second that Michael would be fine. But I guess Perrineau thought he'd been killed off and went on that tirade, and now I hear they're doing focus groups to figure out if he should come back at all. I think for the island to save him only to have him be killed off right away is weak dramatically – I thought for sure they'd keep him around to be reunited with Walt at the end. Show's about redemption, after all.

Agreed about Libby needing more screentime as well. Is she with Abbadon?

I wonder how much they'll use Widmore next season since they have to fly to London everytime they want to do a scene with that actor. Abbadon's role might be beefed up due to this.

Am I the only person who doesn´t give a shit about Libby anymore? maybe they´ll think up some new angle for her past but can´t see much point in her backstory now.

libby's a hanging thread, but unlike a lot of the other hanging threads on the show (danielle's story, four-toed statue, etc), not getting more on her is going to be the one thing that really sticks out after the show's over because she's so prominent in all the flashbacks she's appeared in, and especially because they keep mentioning her even after she's dead.

More wild predictions: Gin will be joining Daniel and the raft party, whose rescue and/or search for the island will constitute a third tier of the action in the upcoming season.

i'd love for Mikhail to come back but i think the producers confirmed he's dead? otherwise, i'm pretty sure that Jin's fine and by the time they see him again he'll be completely fluent in americanese, and not just lapsing into it occasionally.

I didn't get a single episode from Season 4!

i thought i'd do better, but my brain fails this morning. took me 18 minutes to remember "through the looking glass" was the name of S3 finale.

I just watched "Enter 77" and realized that I'd never seen it! It's the exact kind of Season 3 episode that everyone hated at the time (Nikki + Paolo! Chess matches! Ping-pong matches! Introducing the Flame simply to blow it up!), and yet I found it really satisfying for some reason. I miss the leisurely pace of the earlier episodes.

Nah that was a good one, it introduced Mikhail! And the wacky chess computer with the Marvin Candle video! (though the Sayid flashback was just ok, sort of unnecessary by that point, like a lot of the S3 flashbacks) The bad ones were the episodes with Jack/Kate/Sawyer hostage drama and the origin of Jack's tattoos. The show was treadmilling in place badly with no real end in sight. They introduced tons of Others that season (remember the Sheriff? the chick from Deadwood? Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia!) for pretty much no reason, as the vast majority of them were killed in the finale or completely forgotten. Well, at least there was the Hurley bus episode.

What if the whole series is ultimately about Jack's tattoos? Wouldn't that be amazing?

I've been rewatching the entire series (all the mythology weighed down the show in my memory and I had forgotten just how much FUN it is to watch), and Season 5 really holds up. It's the most carefully constructed, and though the time travel loop stuff can get confusing, I love the way themes and scenes from earlier in the season come back to play in the latter part of the season. It's impressive writing.

Also, it's a bummer that most of the actors' careers have fizzled out since the show ended. Where have you gone Josh Holloway? Surely someone can find another good role for Naveen Andrews?

It's great that Season 5 handled time travel without any serious complications. And the Sawyer-Juliet episode "LaFleur" was one of the best episodes of the series. They never figured out who was shooting at them on the boats, however.

That's the one mystery they didn't solve. Maybe it serves to show that there have been people shooting at each other on that island for centuries.

When people say this is a disappointment I just don't get it . This show was a huge part of my life and I will defend it to the end

The show *really* lost its way in the fifth season finale and the final season, but I still think fondly of it. The podcast was fun.
