Ingredients:
1. 1 foot or so of 1 inch diameter dowel
2 - 4-5 feet of rope
3 - five lb. weight.
Tie one end of the rope to the middle of the dowel, and the other end to the weight. Hold the dowel with both hands at arms length in front of you. Lift the brick up from the floor by turning the dowel and winding the rope around it. Lower the brick by the same method.

find a rock climbing facility. then climb rocks.
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:08 (eighteen years ago)
A fried worked at Ben & Jerry's in high school for about a year. 13 years later he still has an enormous lump of muscle in his forearm from scooping ice cream.
― Jesse, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:11 (eighteen years ago)
oilyrags i did the gym version of that exercise when weight-lifting was required in high school. got laffed at cuz i was so pathetic at it. so i realize thats probably the best exercise possible for this sort of thing but at the same time im looking for something even simpler.
i think ill try the ball + gripper, if those arent enough to at least potentially get my forearms to the size where i could for ex wear a watch without looking like a complete goofball, someone let me know.
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:18 (eighteen years ago)
play drums.
― Jordan, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:19 (eighteen years ago)
i don't think people wear watches anymore?
xp ^^^^ this
― dan m, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:21 (eighteen years ago)
no matter how big your forearms get, you can't beef up your wrists, deez, so i don't know how wearing a watch has anything to do with your forearms unless you wear one as a gauntlet
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:22 (eighteen years ago)
haha
Just get a smaller watch.
― nickalicious, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:23 (eighteen years ago)
The world needs people with tiny forearms! Who will free Indiana Jones from all those traps?
not coordinated enough for drums.
i dont actually want to wear a watch, just using that as an example. i had a sad realization recently that even if i did want to i really couldnt - its not because of wrist size, its because watches just look really goofy on guys with skinny forearms.
btw just to clarify i mean "simpler" as in not requiring dowels or bricks, not as in "easier". although i guess i could pick all those up for like 5 bucks at ace hardware or something, i might actually give it a shot.
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:25 (eighteen years ago)
why do you want this
― cutty, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:27 (eighteen years ago)
do you have ridiculously skinny forearms?
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:29 (eighteen years ago)
get a chin-up bar
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:33 (eighteen years ago)
I totally clicked on this thread to say "play drums". Thanks, guys!
― Laurel, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:34 (eighteen years ago)
my forearms and wrists are very skinny, i've never felt sensitive about it in my life. how big is your penis?
― cutty, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:39 (eighteen years ago)
my wrists are larger than my forearms at their narrowest point. i am perfectly fine with my penis.
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:42 (eighteen years ago)
im also tall so that might compound it
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:43 (eighteen years ago)
Your penis?
― nickalicious, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:43 (eighteen years ago)
cutty disproves the drummer/forearm hypothesis.
― Jordan, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:52 (eighteen years ago)
can we have jpgs of said wrists/forearms
― cutty, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:53 (eighteen years ago)
yah then u can update us when u get all lol hueg
― jhøshea, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:54 (eighteen years ago)
i do have a cam but no usb cord at the moment. theyre not superfreakish looking but the wristbone does visibly jut out from the forearm, surely someone else here has this or has seen this
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 15:57 (eighteen years ago)
^ I have this.
Also, I do play drums and furiously masturbate with both hands, so there goes that theory. The difference is, I don't care about my skinny forearms!
― Z S, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:04 (eighteen years ago)
Forearm implants.
― libcrypt, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:22 (eighteen years ago)
deeznuts has indie forearms.
― Jordan, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:26 (eighteen years ago)
type madly in internet forums for long enough, and your forearms will be huge
― dan m, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:27 (eighteen years ago)
Maybe he should get fat injections in his forearms, like they give to guys who want more penile girth.
― libcrypt, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:28 (eighteen years ago)
yuuuuuuuuuck.
i also have skinny arms and wrists. i also care but have never had the disclpine to stick to an exercise regimen for its own sake. i like the rock climbing recommendation though. i am quite scrambly.
― Upt0eleven, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:51 (eighteen years ago)
> i ... never had the disclpine to stick to an exercise regimen for its own sake.
otn
― Oilyrags, Thursday, 20 March 2008 16:55 (eighteen years ago)
Even when I was at my most chair-breakingly fat my wrists stayed bizarrely boney.
― nickalicious, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:15 (eighteen years ago)
You could do like I do and wear clothes with sleeves that are long enough to cover up your freakish wristbones.
This only really works in cold weather though. Good luck!
― nickalicious, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

get a job landscaping/gardening. getting paid to dig and plant is way better than buying some lame gimmicky ball and squeezing a lot.
― Kerm, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:30 (eighteen years ago)
These are the most horrifying videos I've ever seen on youtube! Even more than the naked dancing mushroom guy!
― nickalicious, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:33 (eighteen years ago)
a couple of homemade rubber band balls have more resistance than any of the devices you can buy. Go to staples and buy a bag of rubber bands and make yourself a couple that are just a little smaller than a baseball. Crush them every day for hours while you listen to an old korean lady dodder on about her native language. I think a few other ilxors have seen my forearms.
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
Yep.
― Laurel, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:41 (eighteen years ago)
i had a jazz professor who swore by picking up a few newspaper pages and crumpling them up into a small ball using only one hand. it's harder than it sounds!
― Jordan, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:42 (eighteen years ago)
has anyone here ever broken an egg in the palm of their hand?
― deeznuts, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:47 (eighteen years ago)
I'd be afraid of cutting myself on eggshell, you have to squeeze pretty hard if yr applying pressure over the whole surface.
― Laurel, Thursday, 20 March 2008 17:49 (eighteen years ago)
omg the powerball lollololwtf amzing !!!!
― jhøshea, Thursday, 20 March 2008 18:13 (eighteen years ago)
ok I got to try out one of those powerball things today, a coworker brought it in. I think I'm going to get one. They aren't kidding about the torque, I don't even think I got it going very fast and I was getting some BURN in my extensors
― El Tomboto, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 01:48 (eighteen years ago)

If you break your forearm it swells up something fierce. That's one way to do it.

i think chaki needs to answer this question
carrying heavy packages, tensing below the elbow, over more than minor distances doesn't hurt, but that's 'bigger', not 'big'
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 02:28 (eighteen years ago)
Does chaks have forearms larger than the average ILXer?
― libcrypt, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 02:31 (eighteen years ago)
dude, check WDYLL
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 02:38 (eighteen years ago)
Shit man dude LIFTS.
― libcrypt, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 02:44 (eighteen years ago)
of course chaki has massive forearms, thats how hes capable of pushing away those who love him most
BYE

bahahahahaha good stuff deeznuts
― Abbott, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 03:54 (eighteen years ago)
powerball update, after using it on both arms for about 20-30 minutes a day last week, I got those weird pins and needles/numbness in my hands during the past couple of days from new muscle growth pinching the nerves. I know the feeling because I've had it before when I had a full calisthenics regimen I did every other day
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 22:04 (eighteen years ago)
o shit i still need to get one of those
― deeznuts, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 22:06 (eighteen years ago)
I'm still borrowing the one my coworker brought in
― El Tomboto, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 22:09 (eighteen years ago)
Play mallet instruments, especially vibes.
― Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 23:07 (eighteen years ago)
i've never done it, but I see dudes in the gym using a weight plate attached to short wooden dowel with a couple of feet of rope. hold your arms out and rotate the dowel (parallel to ground) to raise and lower the weight.
― will, Thursday, 17 April 2008 13:32 (eighteen years ago)
as suggested, I have made a rubber band ball and squeeze it while at work. not sure it's making any difference but it's either that or my coworkers neck.
breeeeeeathe
― Upt0eleven, Thursday, 17 April 2008 13:53 (eighteen years ago)
