I think of Sack Lunch as more of a goofy high concept family comedy in the Honey I Shrunk The Kids mold (wiki: "One of the burning questions that bothers Elaine is whether the people on the poster for the movie got shrunk down or are in a giant sack").

I've got it narrowed down to Sack Lunch, PROG-NO-SIIIS NEGATIIIVE, and Mountain High ("You've got to get me over that mountain!"). Death Blow, Cold Fusion, and Ponce De Leon are almost too lifelike.

Ah, hell, Sack Lunch. I'm in the camp that thinks they don't actually get shrunk - it's just a screwball picture that shows you a bunch of wacky looking people in a sack as an indication that funny people will be in this movie. "Or is it just a big sack?"

Ponce De Leon was my favourite by far, as a generic girly arthouse film. I have to admit that I didn't realise at the time that Ponce De Leon was a real historical character. Are Americans familiar with the word "ponce"?

This was done in the show once with George. He found a white spot somewhere on his skin and had it looked at, and when given the "negative" results later kind of semi-collapsed and started moaning how things were just starting to go good for him and now this, sob, sob. Then Jerry sets him straight.

Strong delete Send it to Seinfeld-pedia, if there is one. This is a lot like List of Peter Griffin's jobs, in that it's a cute little in-universe article that would be great for a wiki specifically devoted to the show, but has no place whatsoever in a general-interest encyclopedia.

It's a fair enough point, I suppose. But if you're going to hold wikipedia to such standards, there's enough editing work to be done to keep a fleet of temps busy for a year. Deleting this isn't altogether wrongheaded, but it's pretty high-and-mighty.

Which is to say: Man, I hate Wikipedia editors.

Also: Seinfeld is of pretty gotdamn general interest, last I checked.

Yeah, I feel like they missed what "kind" of movie Rochelle, Rochelle was standing in for.

They definitely went too highbrow with a few of these--I guess I could see Malick's Ponce de Leon, but Cronenberg's Prognosis Negative ignores the kind of 90s genre thriller they were getting at (specifically Malice? Extreme Measures?), and really, Rochelle, Rochelle would make much more sense as a Zalman King production than a Von Trier.

(though how they would have gotten a Bette Midler musical out of either Rochelle, Rochelle idk)

On the Seinfeld Wiki page--which seems to be the source for the original poll--they suggest that Rochelle, Rochelle is modeled on the Emmanuelle films. I was thinking of something like I Am Curious, Yellow (haven't seen it, always wanted to), although from what I've read, that's also very political. Definitely late-'60s, early-'70s softcore art-porn, though, not Lars von Trier. (Great poster, but they should have worked "from Milan to Minsk" into the tagline.)

The world travel aspect of Rochelle, Rochelle does call to mind the Emmanuelle films, but Emmanuelle is a wiser, more assertive character than I imagine Rochelle to be. I see Rochelle as more like the innocent girl in director Just Jaeckin's The Story of O (1975). And there are cinematic echoes of a Rochelle type going up to such films as Eréndira (1983). Basically I see Rochelle, Rochelle as a mid '70s to mid '80s film.

It's funny that the title seems to allude to Rachel, Rachel (1968), which is not much of an erotic journey imo.
