Well, Ohio at least has Indiana to kick around. Good for them.

hey jaymc, i texted you

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 23:02 (sixteen years ago) link

CALL ME NOW

Jesse, Monday, 8 October 2007 23:11 (sixteen years ago) link

weirdness. You called, and I was absolutely sure for a full minute that I was talking to my dad. I was trying to be nonchalant while I anticipated him telling me about the latest family health emergency.

kenan, Monday, 8 October 2007 23:20 (sixteen years ago) link

i'm making biscuits because i pretty much only had butter and flour left. it appears i do not own a rolling pin.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:14 (sixteen years ago) link

also, i just serenaded my brita water pitcher to the tune of the scud mountain boys "television", changing the title to "brita pitcher".

that water jug gets me man, it really gets me.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:23 (sixteen years ago) link

You can make drop biscuits or just pat out the dough with your hands. With biscuits, the less you work it the better.

Speaking of cooking, I am doing something knew with asparagus and that = sauteeing it in bacon fat.

Also: "playing the slots=stonefacedly, endlessly refreshing the ILX new answers page=the most depressing shit ever"

LOL

God I'm so ready. I'm so ready for cool weather I can hardly stand it. I swear to you, I'm hard. - Kenan

You know you are getting a month more of summer when Kenan said a few weeks back that the worst was over. I was too warm today but I'll take all I can get of warm weather. I know I'm going to gain 600 pounds this winter.

I can't do gambling. I feel like I want to throw up after losing $20.

Jeff, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, alas, Jesse is not exaggerating about that friend. At one point we went to the ATM but he was unable to withdraw any more money because he had hit his $500 limit for the day. When I told him that I was watching him play because I'd lost the $20 I brought with me for the gambling he said that I was "cute."

I don't know how much our gambling violating the terms of his domestic arrangement. He did marry his SO and a year later at his bachelor party (I was his best man), we went to Atlantic City, which is a very very depressing place to gamble. By then I was in law school and the thought of gambling with my student loan money was beyond perverse to me. That night he won a lot of money playing craps and then blew it all playing roulette, which he said was his MO.

That said, this friend is an excellent father and a great brewmaster of delicious beer and apparently he and his wife can afford the occasional gambling binge, so, you know. Whatevs floats boats.

Jenny, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:41 (sixteen years ago) link

i used a wine bottle. i think this recipe was missing baking soda or powder or i rolled the dough too thin, the first batch came out like thick flavorless cookies.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, unless you have self-rising flour, you need baking powder.

Jenny, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:48 (sixteen years ago) link

i thought that seemed weird, chalk these up to experience.

i'm still eating them though. i think i'm going to eat my books next. i need a cigarette in the worst possible way. physical withdrawal symptoms in full effect.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh. I thought wifey was pissed (not at us, but at him) b/c he went out with us and frittered away a bunch of cash.

I didn't think I was exaggerating, but sometimes I have doubts [about nights when I have a gut full of beer].

Jesse, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 03:58 (sixteen years ago) link

...we should agree to disagree and move along to some of the other actions that you have suggested that I undertake. Such as your idea that it might be advantageous for me to fuck my mother.

I daresay that the obverse action, of fucking your mother in my own mother's stead, however, leaves me no such compunctions and is an undertaking I am more than willing to commit to at this time.

If the character and comportment of the issue of her womb is any indication, I cannot help but assume that obtaining your mother's consent for such an act—including the oral and anal penetration which your remarks so clearly describe—would be an easy matter.

Good morning.

Hey, is it Radiohead Download Day yet?

If I won a million dollars, I would:
* First pay off all my debts
* Then give each family member an elaborate present (including Nick)
* Then go on a vacation, maybe to Greece
* Then buy a small bungalow with a manageable yard

I guess it would be nice for me to do something for you guys too... Hmm... What would you like?

KitCat, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 13:26 (sixteen years ago) link

WHAT? That didn't spark any discussion??

I'm in a good mood today. Watch out.

KitCat, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 13:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Gifts, dude! GIFTS 4 U

dan m, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 13:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought about it, Sarah, and then I thought how you already threw a great party (wedding), and how a Thirsty Thursday with cognac would just be decadent, and how Vegas would not be a consensus vacation, and so there's not much else I can think of, unless you wanted to give us each a check for $5,000 and enjoy hearing the stories of how we spent it.

Eazy, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 13:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Jordan, this sounds like a Twilight Zone episode where you show up at the house and it's a parallel version of you marrying the grown version of a girl you liked when you were 8.

Eazy, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 13:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I wish I knew where it was! All I find about this Bett1no character is someone at Cerritos College in CA and this: There at the helm was 16-year-old Mike Bett1no,. handling the wheel like a veteran. The captain grinned. and relaxed; for a moment he'd forgotten about the ...

Forgotten about the WHAT????

57 DEGREES

Eazy, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:10 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm in a bad mood, too. My morning already sucks between the swamp heat, my foot hurting, and walking all the way to the train without my wallet and going all the way home again. And being PMSy and so clumsy that when I tried to fan myself with my book this morning, I popped myself in the lip with the hardcover edges.

Laurel, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I have got to find a new job, I hate these people. They bitch and bitch about being "so busy" and having "so much to do", but they are apparently not busy enough to keep them from shooting out the door at 5:00 on the button like a rocket. Meanwhile, I'm working 10-12 hour days to keep up with the workload. Fuck you all.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I killed yr thread with my big fucking bitterness.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I'll bring it back by declaring my love for/addiction to 7-11 sausage egg and cheese muffins. Yum.

Jesse, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:44 (sixteen years ago) link

jordan, congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Jordan, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:45 (sixteen years ago) link

I had cinnamon toast, the breakfast of champions.

KitCat, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I had a Caribou coffee bar and some vanilla yogurt.

Jordan, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:47 (sixteen years ago) link

That oatmeal squares cereal, that's what I had.

Eazy, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:51 (sixteen years ago) link

On Sunday when I didn't have to work, I made a croque madame with gruyere and French sourdough bread and a cafe au lait, and quite frankly my job is not worth getting up early and going through commuting hell and passing up that breakfast.

Laurel, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I am going to make myself pancakes, I think.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 14:56 (sixteen years ago) link

i'm waiting for the record store to open so i can sell some records and buy some food. i think it would be cheaper if i just kept smoking because i can't stop eating when i'm off them. i ran out of food yesterday and was eating things that technically are food but really aren't like left over tortillas and cheese or my attempt at making bisuits.

there's a small chance that this apple-scented candle that's on my coffee table won't see the end of the week.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 15:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Hey guys, this is that fondue/beer/cheese/burgers place that I really liked but can never remember the name of: http://chicagoburgerproject.blogspot.com/2007/10/hot-chocolate.html

One of my friends was training for a marathon and came home needing a "protein dream", so we splurged on burgers there and it was awesome.
