I love you. Let's take it to the next level.

Dear corn on the cob,

I love you, but it really hurt my feelings when you got drunk and embarrassed me in front of my friends. I know you were just trying to be funny, but when you made fun of my overbite it made me look like a fool. Still you're so sweet....

Jesse, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 06:33 (sixteen years ago) link

lol corn is hot right now

Surmounter, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 06:53 (sixteen years ago) link

hahahaha

Surmounter, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 06:53 (sixteen years ago) link

nothing wrong with corn like off the cob, either. but that's just different.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 06:57 (sixteen years ago) link

the problem with corn ON the cob is that it gets all stuck in yr teeth! but if it is already off the cob, it doesn't! weird!

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:09 (sixteen years ago) link

I have had none this summer, I should rectify and with garlic butter too.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:10 (sixteen years ago) link

We've got corn growing in our garden, and wait patiently...

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:12 (sixteen years ago) link

I was at this street festival all weekend and damn if the roasted corn on the cob booth didn't make a killing, $3/ear!!

Jordan, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Ned, I envy you, fresh from the stalk is the best way.I have happy memories of scrumping corn cycling round france.

my cats also love corn on the cob!

rrrobyn, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I have never know of the right words for the little forks that you stick in corn cobs; from now on I shall know them as KOB-KNOBS.

Ed, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:31 (sixteen years ago) link

> my cats also love corn on the cob!

I have a theory about this. Do they love all corn on the cob, or buttered corn on the cob only?

gabbneb, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:02 (sixteen years ago) link

what's your theory, Oilyrags?

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link

cornbread on the cob

Jordan, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:04 (sixteen years ago) link

My theory is cats like butter, not so much corn.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:05 (sixteen years ago) link

how are you going to test this theory of yours?

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not. One of my housemates is allergic to cats.

But if someone else wants to offer their corn-loving cat an unbuttered ear, I'd be interested in the results.

elotes

http://www.epicurious.com/images/gourmet/features/streetfood/austin.jpg

yay

I suspect it's largely the butter but many piggy cats will eat anything.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

you could try putting some butter on your dick.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:20 (sixteen years ago) link

xxxpost: but it might just try to eat it anyway because it's conditioned to expect buttery goodness!

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:21 (sixteen years ago) link

I've never had elotes. It seems like it would be tasty, but big jars of mayo sitting in the sun all day on the vendors' carts make me somewhat nervous.

jaymc, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:22 (sixteen years ago) link

bernard does "xxxpost" mean what i want it to mean?

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:23 (sixteen years ago) link

that's about twice as much entendre as I'm comfortable with

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:25 (sixteen years ago) link

my cat eats potato chips.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:25 (sixteen years ago) link

xxXpost
you have to get it form a "reputable" cart

carne asada, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I know a cat who eats tomatoes.

Jordan, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

cats don't eat tomatoes unless you put them on your tits first, IIRC.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

oh whoops I guess mine was really only an xxpost in the first place

bernard snowy, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:28 (sixteen years ago) link

now see bernard what you were supposed to do there was be confused about whether i meant the cats or the tomatoes

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 16:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I had a grilled corn on the cob at a festival this weekend and then corn OFF the cob with garlic powder last night. I also enjoy the game corn-hole.

humansuit, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:48 (sixteen years ago) link

It's because of the Indians.

french people rarely eat corn and never on the cob - they think it's for animals! RESIGN FRANCE

humansuit, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 15:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I once was so poor, like a month ago, that I went down to the food bank. They gave me a few stalks of corn. I got it home and couldn't get it to soften and tasted it and realized it was COW CORN, not sweet corn. Big difference, and thanks food bank!

However, in Mexico corn smut is called huitlacoche..., an Aztec word reportedly meaning raven's excrement.

So does apple skin. The reward is worth the risk.

Oilyrags, Saturday, 12 July 2008 18:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, see now that's not fair. That's not fair at all. I have nothing against apples, man. I love apples. The corn on the cob is harder to get out of your teeth and it gets in between MORE teeth than the apple. It's a totally different thing, yo.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 12 July 2008 19:01 (fifteen years ago) link

I just got back from my wife's family reunion and had some fantastic corn on the cob that was put up in 2005! My wife's aunt uses a vacuum sealer and that stuff apparently keeps forever that way.
