Couldn't think of a better title sorry.

Should we pick up where we left off?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:44 (nineteen years ago)

january? fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Mike McGooney-gal, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

I know. :(

I'm going to just rewatch the series. Up to about ep5 of season 1.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

repost:
Probably it was significant that Sawyer & Juliet went back & we see Jack & Kate in the flash forward. The first two don't get rescued--which leads to unresolved feelings in the "fixer." I'm assuming everyone on the beach gets left behind--and I doubt Sun or Rose would leave. Yeah, the funeral has to be for Ben.

Remember when the doctor told Jack he was a hero "twice"? Hmm.
-----

See I was thinking they must of all went back. Who was Kate referring to when she said "I need to go. He'll ask questions." Probably too obvious to think Sawyer although I did.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

I'm trying to figure out why Jack would want to go back to the island if everyone was rescued. I could see him--with his messiah complex--freaking out over not saving everyone. Naomi's people are the X factor here. Are Dharmans out for revenge or some whole new deal?

mulla atari, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:03 (nineteen years ago)

So I was figuring the funeral was Rose's?

Alex in SF, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:10 (nineteen years ago)

* So is Mikhael actually dead now? I would assume so but he's already been "killed" like three times.

* The consensus is that Jack referring to his "father" in the future is just him being drugged up and confused? This seems like a stretch to me, but I can't remember whether we know 100 percent for sure that Jack's dad is dead. I thought we did.

n/a, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

xpost
If so why would Jack say he wasn't a friend? (also paper clipping said "Man". I can't imagine it being any of the losties b/c I think he would call all of them friends. (Unless Locke goes completely off his rocker here soon.)

Everybody talk here, come on!

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sure someone would go to Rose's funeral. It was Ben's; he had no one off-island having lived there his whole life, none of the 815 survivors would have gone because fuck him you know?, and Jack was crying because A) if he had listened to Ben he would still be on the island, and B) Ben may have been the only living person who could've gotten him back onto the island.

nickalicious, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

re: Jack's dad. He did see his body on the morgue though the coffin was empty on the island.

I'm thinking there must be some sort of alternate universe thing going on. In the world we are watching, they lived Jack's dad died while in the world they're flashing back (forward?) to no one survived the crash and Jack's dad didn't die. Maybe by being rescued they've FUCKED IT ALL UP.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

in the morgue, duh

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

so here's my theory. they get rescued, right, but they're going back to the wrong world/timeline/whatever. in the one they wind up in, something different happened, or maybe multiple things, and one of them is that 815 DID in fact crash into the ocean and everybody died. christian is alive. etc. and i'm sticking with this theory until AT LEAST tomorrow.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

ooh XPish

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

grr, I knew the ILx LOST community would be divided if I started a new thread.

Should we call the people sticking to the old thread The Others?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

yes! don't trust them.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:20 (nineteen years ago)

There's this burbling electronic noise they use on the soundtrack for Lost during the "OMG CREEPY" scenes that sounds like the intro to "Rikki Don't Lost That Number" by Steely Dan.

n/a, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:20 (nineteen years ago)

re: Kate and "He'll be wondering where I am".

I read somewhere that the guy she married while she was a fugitive (Firefly cop-dude) is looking to re-appear in LOST, and his character is still looking for Kate. It's possible they in fact reconcile in the future.

Roz, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

The fact that they weren't accepting Christian Sawyer's prescription might mean that Jack had sunk low enough to try to write himself scrips in his dead father's name hoping no one would recognize the name. To actually have Christian alive & practicing medicine again? Doesn't fly.

mulla atari, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:22 (nineteen years ago)

I think he def. wrote that scrip himself and that may explain why he didn't want the pharmacist to call and check (dad alive, just didn't give him the scrip)

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

I think that something about Naomi's people (and how they conduct the "rescue") tips Jack off to the fact that Ben & Locke were right about the island. I also doubt that more than a few of them actually get rescued. Claire & Aaron, because of the vision, plus Jack, Kate, Ben and a bunch of no namers.

mulla atari, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:25 (nineteen years ago)

"Claire & Aaron, because of the vision"

which vision? did I miss something?

akm, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

Desmond's vision. We didn't see it, he just told Charlie.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

I watched the finale and was into it despite not seeing the rest of season 3.

So is season 4 going to be all about them trying to get back to the island? That would be funny.

Jordan, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

Did Desmond arrive too late to warn them? They basically called the boat on the assumption that Naomi was working for his long-lost sweetheart, but now he knows that Naomi was probably lying. In any case, if rescue does come, Desmond is one person who's not likely to leave with them.

Roz, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:34 (nineteen years ago)

We haven't seen Desmond leave the Looking Glass yet. Who knows if he makes back to them in time.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:35 (nineteen years ago)

Newspaper article

* The first sentence of the article Jack carries around in the flash-forward seems to read, "The body of Jo.. [unreadable] ..antham of New York was.. [unreadable] ..[shor]tly after 4 a.m. in the.. [unreadable] of Grand Avenue. Ted.. [unreadable] ..man at The Tower.. [unreadable] ..loud noises.. [unreadable].. loft. Co.. [unreadable] ..entered the.. [unreadable] ..a beam in the.. [unreadable] ..[ac]cordin[g].. [unreadable].."

MRZBW, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:37 (nineteen years ago)

There was a spoiler (from the producers?) about the finale a month back or so that said that the Lost camp would divide into two groups, one led by Jack & the other by Sawyer--but that the division would end up serving some 3rd party's interest.

First of all, Saayid is a better leader than either of those goons. Non-whiteness precludes leadership after all, though.

Second, who is the 3rd party-- Naomi's folks, Ben, Locke?

mulla atari, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:39 (nineteen years ago)

Who on the island has a name starting with Jo? hmm. . .

Agreed on Sayid although I think he's not that keen on being the leader.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:42 (nineteen years ago)

Here's the weird bit - if Naomi's not working for Penny, why does she have a picture of her and Desmond together?

Jo = John Locke? He's also another guy not likely to have anyone attend his funeral, he doesn't have any family left outside the island, and the 815-ers hate him for trying to stop them from leaving.

Roz, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

x-post: whoever guessed the third party as penelope's pops, charles widmore has my vote. that would also explain the photo, right?

i remain a bit confused about whether benry and the others are now part of dharma or something else entirely, so it could also be the OG dharma dudes swooping back in?

Mike McGooney-gal, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

or HANSO...

xp: if i recall she didn't know WHO she was working for.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

who's hanso?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

ahhh, yes. how could i forget hanso?
namaste, bitches.
http://www.thehansofoundation.org/

Mike McGooney-gal, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

xposts nope, she definitely mentioned she was working for Penelope Widmore, but she said she never met Penny.

Jo = may be Ja? The article isn't that clear. James Ford? JACOB??

Roz, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

who's hanso?

This dude who makes samurai swords. LOST/Kill Bill crossover!

HI DERE, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

You know, the dead person could be somebody we don't know about yet.

It's funny how many people's theories are based on either a) OMG ONE/ALL OF THE CHARACTERS ARE REALLY DEAD AND DON'T KNOW IT or b) alternate universe bullshit. The former is so so so so played out and obvious at this point, and the latter is the biggest copout in the world. I'm going to be annoyed if it's either one of those.

n/a, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

hanso is so hot right now

Jordan, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:55 (nineteen years ago)

Tail Section website thinks that a song Charlie was writing on the island was playing on Jack's car stereo. Anyone hear this?

mulla atari, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:56 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't get any sense of alternate universe stuff from the ending. It seemed like the island stuff happened, they escaped, and then Jack realized that it was actually the best time of his life, maybe?

Jordan, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:57 (nineteen years ago)

so played out and obvious at this point,

The producers have said this is not the case.

To me the alt. universe theory seems to best way to explain the inconsistencies at this point. But I have complete faith that they are fucking with us and it will turn out to be something we can't imagine.

xpost Jack must have had a pretty shitty life.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 14:59 (nineteen years ago)

xpost no no no he wasn't SUPPOSED to leave

kenan, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:00 (nineteen years ago)

I think Jordan is right; on the island Jack is a leader and a hero and has the possibility of hooking up with Kate; off the island he has lost Kate and is fucked up and has an ugly beard.

n/a, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:01 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't get any sense of alternate universe stuff from the ending. It seemed like the island stuff happened, they escaped, and then Jack realized that it was actually the best time of his life, maybe?

I hope the last episode of the series is Jack sat outside the airport as kate drives off. he looks down and smiles to himself, then we're treated to a slow-mo montage of all the fun times on the island (beating ben, in the net with kate, etc...) to Medley and Warne, and then finally cutting back to Jack as he looks to the camera and says "i sure did."

Gukbe, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:01 (nineteen years ago)

Judging from responses from the producers, and one interview with Michael Emerson, they've pretty much all said that the explanations lie in science, or pseudo-science. So I don't think any of them are dead except where they've REALLY died. and if they are dead and people are seeing dead people among them, then they might choose to explain it as some sort of mind-control thing.

Alternate universe = that one's not ruled out yet, because it's still somewhere in the realm of pseudo-science. I don't think this is it though, it is kind of a cop-out.

I'd say time has a lot to do with it, but weird time issues =! alternate universe.

Roz, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:02 (nineteen years ago)

"alternate universe," "alternate timeline," whatev.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:04 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, at least he shaved on the island.

Jordan, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:04 (nineteen years ago)

xp: basically if you fuck with causality and that changes the future you are in essence in an alternate version of reality/time/the universe.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:05 (nineteen years ago)

Hmm. Time travel. Maybe they show up back in the world before the plane crash happens (hence Christian being alive & drunk.)

mulla atari, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:05 (nineteen years ago)

why would they Oceanic golden tickets? Would the airline admit they fucked up and flew into a black hole or something?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 24 May 2007 15:06 (nineteen years ago)

You guys are kind of crazy.

Six people get off the island then? Jack, Kate obviously, Claire is present in Desmond's vision, my guess would be Sun + Hurley + whoever's in the casket.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

i spoilered on this whoops

blueski, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

to myself, i mean

blueski, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

Actually Hurley's on the beach isn't he? So its either him and Jin or neither of them.

Locke, Sayid and Sawyer to stay on the island please.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 January 2008 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

Starts 3rd Feburary at 9pm on Sky One in the UK.

That 8 minute 15 second complete series catch-up video is here:

Savannah Smiles, Thursday, 24 January 2008 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

Starts 3rd Feburary at 9pm on Sky One in the wee hours next Friday in the UK.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 24 January 2008 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

Day-and-date really has to kick in on this TV stuff internationally. I know so many people who find the notion of illegal downloading repellent, with LOST completely excluded.

Savannah Smiles, Thursday, 24 January 2008 18:55 (eighteen years ago)

I've learned to be very careful with my spoilage after the s3 finale. I've looked at promo pics and cast lists (Harold Perrineau is in main cast list but I doubt we'll see him until like episode 4 or 5) and that's it.

nickalicious, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

I like to imagine that with Jack leaving the island Sayid and Juliette will become an item.

nickalicious, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

I can't imagine Sun leaving the island w/o Jin, but that is just the kind of tearjerker I rely on LOST for.

nickalicious, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:15 (eighteen years ago)

I'm guessing Jack & Kate, Sun & Jin, Claire & Aaron.

nickalicious, Thursday, 24 January 2008 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

I guess Jack, Kate, Sayid, Desmond, Claire, Baby Aaron.

Savannah Smiles, Thursday, 24 January 2008 20:48 (eighteen years ago)

I think Aaron doesn't count as one of the Oceanic Six as he wasn't born at the time. The guy in the casket is Mike, and both he and Walt will only appear in off-island flash-forwards (would also be a handy way of solving the problem of the actor playing Walt being 3-4 years older).

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 January 2008 23:32 (eighteen years ago)

The guy in the casket is Mike

is this a spoiler u bastard?!?!

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 24 January 2008 23:35 (eighteen years ago)

that didn't occur to me before but Michael was from New York and the newspaper clipping did say the man in question was from there. don't know if it's him or not (don't think it's Ben either tho).

blueski, Friday, 25 January 2008 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

(All of this is guesswork, I'm not reading no spoilers)

Matt DC, Friday, 25 January 2008 09:05 (eighteen years ago)

If baby Aaron doesn't count, I'm guessing Sun then - just from the line in the trailer (which, even though it's in all the ads, I don't want to write here lest I be accused of dropping a spoiler)

Savannah Smiles, Friday, 25 January 2008 09:44 (eighteen years ago)

want Vincent flashback episode.

blueski, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

omg.

Vincent flashforward, even better.

Roz, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 12:24 (eighteen years ago)

Just caught up with the rest of those missing pieces "mobisodes" or whatever...I loved the Jin freakout one.

nickalicious, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

Oh hey btw TWO DAYS.

nickalicious, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

thinking about it more, does seem daft(er than normal) for the monster to be appearing even before a dog and as someone it wouldn't recognise. Jack waking up at that point may have been because the monster was nearby, he may have been thinking about Christian while unconscious or Christian was the first thing he thought of when he awoke (beyond 'wtf where am i') - whether subconsciously influenced by monster or not. ah fuckit.

blueski, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

Smokey though I think took on Christian's form because his body had just fallen onto the island (remember Yemi's body was also taken before smokey appeared to Eko as such).

nickalicious, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

I also kind of assumed it was the smokey-takes-on-the-dead thing that prompted the Others' funeral at sea tradition.

nickalicious, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

ooh good one, hadn't thought about the reasons for others sea-funerals before

blueski, Tuesday, 29 January 2008 16:42 (eighteen years ago)

TOMORROW

dmr, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 19:00 (eighteen years ago)

so excited you guys

jaymc, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 19:00 (eighteen years ago)

if anyone watches the "enhanced" season 3 finale rerun tonight lemme know if they say anything interesting in the pop-up windows .... I'm gonna skip it

also apparently there is a clip show tomorrow before the premier

dmr, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 19:01 (eighteen years ago)

yah i have band practice tonight. please help a bro out with the "never before seen" stuff!

jaymc, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

the pop-up-video screenshots of Enhanced Lost in the new york times today all showed stuff that an internerd like myself would already know (i.e. one said "Henry Gale is a character from the Wizard of Oz") .... but who knows, there might be some unexpected nuggets of wisdom

dmr, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 19:56 (eighteen years ago)

STOKED

Roz, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

So what did one snowman say to the other snowman?

SMELLS OF CARROTS.

I lucked out in that I started a band with (what I didn't know at the time were) a bunch of LOST fans; we've moved our Thursday practice to my house at 5 pm, then we'll all watch it here together on my roommate's gargantuan tv.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:04 (eighteen years ago)

I turned the back of a stop sign I had in the basement into a Dharma symbol with a bass clef in the middle. BASS STATION.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, half the people in my band are big LOST fans, too. But there's also six of us in the band, so scheduling is a nightmare, and I don't think anyone is inclined to skip our usual Wednesday practice just to watch last season's finale. I am excited that the show is on Thursdays now, though, so I can watch it on TV instead of online.

jaymc, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

xp, We have been toying around with the idea of making band t-shirts using the Dharma symbol and our logo in the middle.

jaymc, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 20:10 (eighteen years ago)

New thread time I think, seeing as we're likely to get serious posting mileage out of the fourth season.
