THERE IS NO BETTER WAY TO SPEND A SUNDAY

Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:05 (nineteen years ago)

I'd like to have come to this. Enjoy people! Break a leg to performers!*

*I'm taking that it's like actors? Otherwise, best of luck...

kv_nol, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:12 (nineteen years ago)

who did the poster??? that is marvellous....

stevie, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:12 (nineteen years ago)

Kate did.

Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:13 (nineteen years ago)

"to have come"? But it is in THE FUTURE!!!

ha ha, if you'd wanted to be really naughty, Ed, you could have done it as a poll, and then people could have voted for which band they were most excited about seeing. (Not that I could have picked, mind you.)

x-post thanks!

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:13 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, that's a great poster!

Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

I can't come to this, but I really wish I could. I hope it will be brilliant.

Stupid Ireland! Stupid sea in between me and ILX festival!

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

harness a walrus or a pair of porpoises for the trip.

Ed, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

you should have singstar between bands.

g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

why does the poster say it's an album?

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

Because there is AN ALBUM as well! it is the release party for the ILX comp! That was the point of it in the first place!

(but only if Ken C finishes his track in time.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:22 (nineteen years ago)

omigod, Singstar between bands - I will try to get Lisa to bring theirs!

(But I will NOT sing against her or AMP because I invariably harmonise with them, and therefore lose.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:22 (nineteen years ago)

ooooooooooooh! (xpost)

(and it's a great poster indeed, btw)

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:24 (nineteen years ago)

WAHT. i only suggested it because i thought you'd say no. i'd possibly consider coming to this if there were singstar.

g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:24 (nineteen years ago)

Are tickets likely to be necessary?

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

sorry for another stupid question, but what does the KMF right under its nose mean?

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

Me & the mister have train tickets now. Still got to get *actual* tickets... unless we can buy them on the door?

emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:28 (nineteen years ago)

I've only just noticed the KMF... is it Kate's initials? A signature for the artwork?

emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:30 (nineteen years ago)

What the??? Is Brixton in the middle of a maze or something?

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:31 (nineteen years ago)

(it was just an idea I had, I don't think I'll be able to make it, won't be sure if I'll have to work on Sunday until shortly before the weekend itself :-/ )

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:33 (nineteen years ago)

OMGLMAO! KMF = Klaus M. Flanger?

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:34 (nineteen years ago)

There will definitely be tickets for ILX0rs on the door. However, if you are coming from far away, I would reccomend buying advance tix.

If Singstar means teh kit will come, we will have singstar.

Stan, those directions are wacky. Just get on the A23 from London and head south. Blenheim Gardens is the road before the prison. If you hit Brighton, you've gone too far.

KMF = KLAUS M. FLANGER, DO YOU SEE?!?!?

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:35 (nineteen years ago)

x-post.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:35 (nineteen years ago)

If you are coming from within London and you are scared of South London, DON'T BE, it is really easy.

Take the Victoria Line to Brixton (no, you will not need a passport to go Sarf of the river) turn left out of the station and walk down to the second or third bus stop. Busses which will take you to the Windmill:

45, 59, 159, 133, 333, 250, 50, 109, 118 - anything that goes up Brixton Hill.

It's the third or fourth stop past Brixton Centre - there's a minimart and a funeral parlour on the corner.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

Hehehe, are you signing everything as Klaus from now on? I like this. I imagine Klaus to have a lolrus moustache:

http://www.kosmikradiation.com/can-czukay.gif

emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:39 (nineteen years ago)

I've written it down in my calendar and will be thinking about it until I know if I can make it - would be a great time to see a real life ilxor in the fle, well, clothes, since I haven't met any yet. :-)

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:40 (nineteen years ago)

That's Holger not Klaus!

Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:41 (nineteen years ago)

That is LOLger not Klaus, but yes. In fact, I think Klaus has a Lemmy.

(Man, I should have called myself LOLger.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:41 (nineteen years ago)

Klaus should do guest appearances with some of those acts, Timbaland/Dr.Dre style.

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:42 (nineteen years ago)

MC KMF in der Haus!l

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:43 (nineteen years ago)

Dada - krautrock factchecking R us.

(Actually, KMF is my user name at work - my middle initials are actually MC but 4 letters wouldn't fit.)

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:43 (nineteen years ago)

Ooh just before my birthday! I might might come if I can give Alice the slip somehow :)

Archel, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:45 (nineteen years ago)

Don't you have family in Streatham Hill who can babysit her for the afternoon?

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

Blimey StanM - you live near me, I had no idea. FAP?

I think I'll be able to come to this - school nights are quite tricky at the moment but I'll see what I can do. I need to see the mighty Vietgrove if nothing else.

Matt DC, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:55 (nineteen years ago)

Also, those directions will get you to the *actual* Windmill, not the pub, the Windmill.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:56 (nineteen years ago)

bring alice archel!

ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:57 (nineteen years ago)

ken, should i come to this?

g-kit, Thursday, 24 May 2007 12:59 (nineteen years ago)

you should!

singstar, g-kit!

ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:00 (nineteen years ago)

Blimey StanM - you live near me, I had no idea. FAP?

you live near step 29 of my itinerary, I'm in Mechelen, Belgium :-/

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:02 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, that makes sense, then - it's trying to send you round the south London Circular. It is pretty much all one long road, it's just called a million different things. Ed would be better to consult on the art of driving there from Belgium as he has done it recently.

Really, you just want to get on the A23 which is the main artery from Brighton/the coast to London - the Windmill is just off the A23.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:07 (nineteen years ago)

from belgium just take the train to waterloo and then get the bus.

ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

Or do what Ken C says. The 59 is your beast.

Masonic Boom, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

That's Holger not Klaus!

But Klaus Dinger doesn't have a lolrus moustache. And curiously enough, I have no photos of Klaus M. Flanger.

emil.y, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:10 (nineteen years ago)

from belgium just take the train to waterloo and then get the bus

Which Waterloo tho?

Tom D., Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:10 (nineteen years ago)

only the N59 goes to Waterloo in Belgium...

CarsmileSteve, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:15 (nineteen years ago)

lol

StanM, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

I'm in London that weekend but I'll be on the train home by the time this starts. It'd be nice to see you all for a FAP on the Friday though.

leigh, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:18 (nineteen years ago)

xxpost so THAT'S where i ended up when i fell asleep on the N59

ken c, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:18 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, that would certainly explain why it took me 7 hours to get home from my work's xmas party last year.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 24 May 2007 13:21 (nineteen years ago)

Don't rock. Wobble.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 09:44 (eighteen years ago)

we will all has bucket!

ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 09:47 (eighteen years ago)

Email sent.

Pashmina, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 09:51 (eighteen years ago)

Great. I only wish I was in a band!

Tom D., Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:01 (eighteen years ago)

Bring your balalaika!

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:05 (eighteen years ago)

i will come to this. and lurk.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:43 (eighteen years ago)

It's not big enough to lurk, you will be outed.

Tom D., Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:44 (eighteen years ago)

He could hide in the back, by the BBQ. (And be hidden by one of the large dogs.)

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:51 (eighteen years ago)

well it's about time for an outing and brixton is as good a location as any. x-post

there are large dogs? AWESOME

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:53 (eighteen years ago)

There is ROOFDOG and there is BIG FURRY FLOPPY DOG. They are both excellent. And always begging for sausages at BBQs.

(Now we will really know how to find you! You'll be the person we don't recognise feeding sausages to the dogs.)

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:54 (eighteen years ago)

(I wonder if ROOFDOG is related to Ceiling Cat.)

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:55 (eighteen years ago)

yup. sausages, burgers, kofte kebabs will all find its way toward floppy dog. and if anyone is wondering where their harmonica is....

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 10:59 (eighteen years ago)

YAY!

G00blar, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 11:26 (eighteen years ago)

Tonight, tonight, the highway's bright

Out of our way mister you'd best keep

the pinefox, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

YAY!!

G00blar, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 11:58 (eighteen years ago)

Let me know when the lineup is complete, and I'll do you a new LOLRUS.

(Unless you passionately want to do yr own. in which case I shall demure.)

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:01 (eighteen years ago)

hehe i might have a go myself first (i love doing these flyer things!) but if it turns out crap i might need your help cos the original LOLRUS was awesome!

ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:06 (eighteen years ago)

ALSO: is it too late for ILX has a bucket vol 4 to coincide?

ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:07 (eighteen years ago)

probably is since we only have 2 months..

ken c, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:09 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I'd say go, but it seems quite soon after Vol 3.

There seems a 2 yeargap between vols, and last one was particularly good.

I know, you missed out being on it, so did I!

Mark G, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 12:10 (eighteen years ago)

Hi dere!

Can't believe this is actually happening! Less than a month after the long shot "will this happen again?" post.

I think I have now got emails from everyone and so we have the lineup

- Red Bull Dozers
- Autorotation
- Vietgrove
- Gooblar
- Joe Brooker
- The Chemistry Experiment
- A Nation Mourns

This is v. exciting.

I'll send an email to all soon to arrange the details with stage times, equipment and all that jazz!

ken c, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 11:19 (eighteen years ago)

ten months pass...

will this happen again?

just saying, like.

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:12 (seventeen years ago)

Whoa! time passes!

Mark G, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:15 (seventeen years ago)

New intros or not or...?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

When I said NEVER AGAIN, I meant... well, erm, maybe... I've got this new singer I've been working with, and we do these HILARIOUS electro-bosh versions of indie anthems...

Marylebone Flashrave (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 14:59 (seventeen years ago)

If I happens again maybe it's time for a new venue though.

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

Also, no Aut0r0t@t10n twunts which would cut down on 1000% of faffage, hah!

Marylebone Flashrave (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 16:53 (seventeen years ago)

srsly

Safe Boating is No Accident (G00blar), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 16:55 (seventeen years ago)

haha do you hate them now?

xpost

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

where can be a good venue though.. do you think the harrison will have us?

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:25 (seventeen years ago)

dunno why i said that actually.

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

Of course I hate them! They sacked me ages ago! Ha ha ha.

Marylebone Flashrave (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

hahahahaha oops

i liked the afternoon outdoorsy vibe of the past ones. but we need a venue that doesn't expect us to pack the place with a 'headliner' at 22:00 sunday night.

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:30 (seventeen years ago)

Wembley it is, then.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

Wembley tube station...

snoball, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:33 (seventeen years ago)

Ken C, the buskers' friend.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:34 (seventeen years ago)

flashmob

jel --, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:35 (seventeen years ago)

a tube station gig would have been a great idea actually if it happened before boris' booze ban.

o_O (ken c), Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

Isn't it only on the tube trains themselves that you can't drink? Or does the ban extend to the stations as well?

snoball, Wednesday, 11 February 2009 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

stations as well

o_O (ken c), Friday, 13 February 2009 12:24 (seventeen years ago)

You know, you can still drink on the overground. At least I'm pretty sure you can on the Thameslink.

SUTTON LOOP PARTY, ANYONE??!?!?

I'm getting LOUD with you! (Masonic Boom), Friday, 13 February 2009 12:56 (seventeen years ago)

You can still drink on the overground, that wasn't covered by the ban.

I read an article about how zero people have actually been arrested for drinking on the tube since the ban came in. I used to occasionally pour a beer into a soft drink bottle to take on but since reading that I don't bother. Never encountered any problems.

Safe Boating is No Accident (G00blar), Friday, 13 February 2009 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

gigs were so much cheaper back in the days

^ sarcasm (ken c), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 10:04 (twelve years ago)

"sit outside", ah what a wag I was, lol, etc.

Mark G, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 11:59 (twelve years ago)

it seems to be just us two who remember this event now.

^ sarcasm (ken c), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:14 (twelve years ago)

, and I wasn't even there!

(I was going to be, was going to be onstage for the first time since 1996 or thereabouts, but a) it was Fathers Day, and 2) Amber was singing in a schools choir performance at the local theatre, so it would have been a really bad look if i'd have not been there.

Mark G, Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:20 (twelve years ago)

I went to this, for a bit.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Wednesday, 26 June 2013 14:41 (twelve years ago)
