Richard Christy (born April 1, 1974, Fort Scott, Kansas) is an American drummer who currently works as a contributor on the Howard Stern Radio Show. He earned the position after winning the "Win John's Job" contest, initiated after Stuttering John left the show to work as the announcer for The Tonight Show.
Christy has played in many bands such as Iced Earth and Burning Inside yet his work has been appreciated in Death and Control Denied as well. Christy joined Death after meeting their leader Chuck Schuldiner in a bookstore while Death were looking for a new drummer. He recorded 3 albums with Death (including 2 live albums) and one album with Control Denied.
Following Gene Hoglan's style, Christy's mastery of double bass technique and odd time signatures make him a standout drummer in a crowded field. His skills were honed while living in a storage garage over a period of years in Florida. Since there were no neighbors to bother, Christy could practice his drumming well into the night without the worry of someone calling the police.
On the Howard Stern Radio Show Christy is known as the guy who never has sex (he stated on the show that he had sex just once in the past 10 years). He has since claimed that he has had sex on numerous occasions due to his involvement with the show. A self confessed pervert, illustrated by his extensive knowledge of pornography, he has been beaten only twice playing the Stump the Perv porn trivia segment. The first loss was to famous pornstar Ron Jeremy, while the second loss was to a female writer for Xtreme Magazine, a pornographic industry publication. Christy also admits to having Friday night pleasuring sessions where he pours a glass of wine for the girl's picture on the computer screen. Ever since his makeover done by Beth, Richard has been having more success in his lovelife, as revealed by the abortion he paid for which resulted from a broken condom.
The cast of the Stern Show routinely poke fun at Christy's strong Kansas accent, lifestyle and upbringing. His father, a Vietnam veteran, hunts and catches wild animals for food, similar to rocker Ted Nugent, instead of driving 15 miles to a grocery store. During a July 2005 show, Christy announced that his dog, "Coon Dog," had eaten his favorite pet, a rooster named "Dumbass," back home on his father's farm. The cast of the Stern Show found this very funny. Christy's fondness for cheesecake and beer are also ammunition for jokes and ribbing by the cast. More ribbing occurred on November 16, 2005 when Jeff the Vomit Guy, who appeared on the show as part of a contest where the first pornstar to vomit on him would win a trip to the AVN Awards in Las Vegas, caused Christy to vomit heavily all over Jeff after the contest ended.
Christy is one of the main characters in the short film Supertwink: The Movie for Howard Stern On Demand, released in January of 2006.
On January 16th 2006, it was revealed on Stern's Sirius Radio Show (during a bit where cast members revealed secrets about themselves) that Christy had gotten a woman pregnant in the past year (due to his tendency to break condoms occasionally because of his large girth), and paid for her to have the child aborted.
On February 13th 2006, Christy had his private parts Brazilian waxed. He went through well over 15 minutes of torturous screaming, sounds which have now become part of the sound effects that Fred plays. At the time he said this is something he would never do again, but the following day he changed his mind and said he would indeed do it again. Howard made fun of Christy's penis saying there is no way that would require Magnum condoms.
Christy is known to collaborate with Sal the Stockbroker on many bits for the Howard Stern Show. This usually involes self-deprecating homosexual humor.
