What was the worst Prince movie?

I ask this in advance of seeing Purple Rain, at the BAM. It's the only Prince movie I've seen, so I can't really be the judge.

Purple Rain is the best. You've nothing to worry about.

I'm not worried, I just want to know which one is the worst!

by most accounts it's Under the Cherry Moon followed hard by Graffiti Bridge. his best movie, btw, is Sign 'O' the Times.

Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves

Under The Cherry Moon is suprisingly watchable. I don't think the critics of the day realized it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.

It's hard for me to say which is the worst because all three have qualities that make them worth watching for me, and all aren't "good movies." Purple Rain has the best music scenes. Prince is funniest in Under The Cherry Moon, and Graffiti Bridge is the most entertainingly batshit as a whole. It really depends what you're going for, but all have Prince being ridiculous in them.

One reason I never saw 8-mile or Get Rich Or Die Trying is that I knew neither would involve taunting prospective girlfriends by the river while driving a purple motorcycle.

I love Under the Cherry Moon. People don't have any sense of fun.

Under The Cherry Moon is suprisingly watchable.

*surprisingly*, even.

"Purple Rain" was the best date movie ever.*

*NB: My first date with my wife involved the movie "Prick Up Your Ears," so I might not be any kind of judge.

tone otm - i think under the cherry moon's actually the best, seeing graffiti bridge was one of the most fun times i've ever had at a movie theater, but purple rain's definitely the safest bet. sign o the times always disappointed me somehow - too close to be exactly what i wanted but not quite close enough. what i'd really like to see is that concert vid that had that looooong ass version of 'america' that bet used to play all the time.

my fave video is Prince & The Revolution: Live! which is a live show from '84. Has all the great songs from Purple Rain, some earlier hits, Prince inviting us to his house - it's a purple house, and leading a conga line including members of the Time and a little fat french boy in b-boy gear. It's filmed cheaply, which I find more satisfying than the more 'cinematic' style of Sign O' The Times. Plus its not lip-synced like SOTT was. I dunno if it ever came out on Dvd, though.

I think some people here don't understand the question at hand

Batman is the worst Prince movie.

The first time I saw it, my friend had a party where she made us "dress in black and white" but pretend we were wearing colorful clothes.

i watched Under the Cherry Moon for the first time on Saturday, and the first half is... almost good! And intentionally funny at least half the time. "There's a full moon, and I'm a werewolf, bitch!" (slaps own ass)

It is perverse that P never sings onscreen in it, and only starts dancing once in a club sequence until Steven Berkoff and his goons enter. "Party pooper!" No, Prince, YOU are the party pooper.

The vibe in all the Prince-Jerome Benton scenes is "Hope & Crosby Rush a Pansexual Fraternity on the Rivieria." Way more homophilic, even.

Kristin is game and often funny in an utterly thankless role.

he made more movies in the 1990s. well sort of. he did those long form videos for the D&P and love symbol albums, basically just the videos, with bits of narrative scenes to stitch them together. they were all mostly quite bad (though the videos were often good/fun). but GB is def the cinematic nadir of his career. UTCM at least has some redeeming 40s hollywood pastiche stuff happening. but GB is just an all out dud.
