Let's gush about our intellligent, talented co-workers

There's too much negativity and too much suffering in the world (why does it have to be that way, why oh why, oh Lord?) and so this thread has been designed as a counterbalance to the ever popular Let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-workers thread.

So let me start. The same week as the Buddhist hippy woman started in my office (see the ever popular Let's bitch about our stupid, annoying co-workers thread), a Kenyan woman started and she is GREAT! She's so calm and laidback and unflustered and also SO GOOD AT HER JOB. As well as being very nice and friendly (in a quiet sort of way) and all that stuff blah blah blah. She's a devout Christian, so in this case at least: Jesus Christ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Buddha.

I am probably the dumbest person in my office. Rox0r.

My colleague has just invented a nickname for our ridiculous MD that will enable us to have conversations about him without fear of him walking past and getting security to eject us from the building.

The people in my department are all pretty cool. For once, I have no complaints! I know that's damning with faint praise, but I can't come up with an example right now...

The human resources manager in my office is a super-effecient genius who can sweetly talk ANYONE on the phone into getting things her way; the company would cease to function without her. Also, she is a recently divorced woman in her 50s who has since started dating someone from our art department half her age. She rules!

There's almost as many of those as there are of over-sensitive twerps who can't take (or even recognise) a joke

One of my co-workers has an entertainingly bitchy blog. (On his homepage, he also has a kind of great photo of himself with Gina Schock from 1984.)

Everybody at my company is intelligent, talented and devoted to the job and it's a fuckin' joy to work here. Which is why I'm at work at 9:00pm on a Thursday. Don't tell me I'm the only one who digs where they're at...?

I really like the team I work with. Everyone works hard and no one is overly annoying. Most are educated, have travelled a bit and are open-minded. (However, there are people who sit by me that are annoying, so I can bitch about them on the other thread.)

three years pass...

My boss is so awesome. The guy just excels at doing his job in the face of so much bullshit from our other coworkers. I worry that our larger department is not accomplishing its mission, but he's kept our group in a state of constant improvement. Thank you.

When I first started my position, my department was largely made up of humourless middle-aged women. I got along with them all okay, but it's wasn't exactly a fun or friendly atmosphere. Now there's a majority of folks in their 20s-early 30s who I LOVE and have lunch with and do things with outside work. It's really NICE.

My dept is mainly made up of middle aged women- they're a riot tbh

My problem is that humorless middle aged women tend to think I'm one of them.

eh we have some humorless ones, but whaddaygonnado?
