What do you sleep in?

This question has just proved strangely popular in my office. I sleep in either 1) a slip dress-style nightgown 2) boys boxers and a vest 3) oversized t-shirts 4) nothing.

You?

I should actually really wear my protective 1950s-style M&S pyjamas wot I did get for a hospital thing, seeing as how I'm scarred from various springs and coils on the bed of terror. But I don't.

stet (stet), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:35 (eighteen years ago) link

I sleep in lots of stuff. In order: undies and a tshirt, in a bed, in a first-floor room, in an old farmhouse, in Austin, in Texas, in The United States of America, in the planet Earth, in the solar system, in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Also, occasionally city buses.

Winter: flannel bottoms & a t-shirt (sometimes long sleeved)
Autumn/Spring: thin pants (like scrubs) & a t-shirt
Summer: boxers & a tank top or nothing at all.
this year has been a whole lot of nothing. or a t-shirt w/o pants. i kinda like sleeping naked in the winter if i'm sharing my bed with my bf.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 9 September 2005 05:37 (eighteen years ago) link

I have slept naked almost every night for the last 14 years or so, since I was about 12. I feel very uncomfortable sleeping with any clothes on, boxers or PJs or anything. The only times I'll wear anything is if I'm in an unusual bed (or on an unusual floor) or if I'm ill.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 9 September 2005 07:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Leggings and some kind of (usually oversize) t-shirt most often. If it's very hot, I might replace the leggings with a paisley cotton skirt which has become too ratty/transparent to wear out of the house. If it's very cold, I might add a sweatshirt or more usually my sleeping cap.

I dislike sleeping naked, regardless of whether there is anyone with me or not. I cannot sleep at all if I am wearing socks.

(This of course disregards the number of times I have passed out or fallen asleep fully clothed.)

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Friday, 9 September 2005 07:49 (eighteen years ago) link

When it's warm - just boxers. When it isn't - boxers, t-shirt and (the shame) socks. I'm 6' 3", my feet get cold!

I never sleep naked.

Why not, Ronan? It's GREAT!

nathalie's pocket revolution (stevie nixed), Friday, 9 September 2005 12:02 (eighteen years ago) link

The upside to that being, if there's a fire, at least I'll look okay with a pair of nice jeans or business slacks on, waiting for the authorities to arrive.

this sounds silly but you never know. when our house burned down in college, i was so relieved that i had left my clothes folded next to my bed instead of putting them away in the closet. i was able to greet neighbors and firemen in jeans and a sweater, as opposed to my cowering half-naked housemates.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 9 September 2005 12:25 (eighteen years ago) link

I usually fall asleep in the jeans I wore, unless it's cold and then I'll keep my shirt on. It's not that I really want to, but I'm still at home until I'm able to find a full-time position and move out. I live in a place so small that I've had to share a room with my 13-year-old brother ever since his birth, hence why I have to sleep clothed.

My youngest brother was such a slacker that if he knew he had to be up early in the morning, he'd have a shower and put on the next day's clothes before he lay down on his bed to watch telly for the night. That way he wouldn't have to get dressed in the morning.
