Mia Farrow's son -- Ronan Seamus Farrow -- really creeps me out!

They're on MSNBC right now. He's incredibly well spoken for however old he is. They're talking about UNICEF and he's wildly wordly and savvy and earnest and, I'm sure, good hearted....but man.....he gives me the heebiejeebies.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Is he Woody's son?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Does he want to use UNICEF for evil purposes?

xpost

Oh, does that have something to do with why you're creeped out?

Sundar (sundar), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Mia Farrow has a puppet face.

Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, so that's what happened to Maxwell Demon.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

That pic -- though well creepy -- doesn't do his inherent creepiness justice.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

He looks like Kim Basinger.

Bryan (Bryan), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

He looks like he was photoshopped into that picture.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 14 May 2005 02:46 (twenty-one years ago)

He also comes across as incredibly pious, righteous and sincere, as if he's undergone a severe humorectomy.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 May 2005 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think he'd do well in prison.

Nancy Zerg, Saturday, 14 May 2005 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

That depends on your definition of "well".

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 May 2005 04:56 (twenty-one years ago)

he has nice lips. hmm how old did you say he was?

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 14 May 2005 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

He is Woody Allen's son! I know about it because I read Mia Farrow's autobio. You should read that if you're interested, it's really much, much more revealing than you'd expect. I wanted to know everything and I kind of found out more than I even wanted to know. I would repeat all the things I thought were interesting here but that would feel strange.

But Woody Allen is completely estranged from him.

m.., Saturday, 14 May 2005 05:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Is he the child whose name Mia changed from Satchell?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 14 May 2005 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

He looks like Kim Basinger.

I was thinking Scarlett Johansson

()ops (()()ps), Saturday, 14 May 2005 05:33 (twenty-one years ago)

He doesn't look half as creepy as Mia.

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 14 May 2005 06:02 (twenty-one years ago)

(And not just because Mia is old. She's always been vaguely creepy. I just watched Zelig again the other night, and she was not as creepy there as in some movies, but still.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Saturday, 14 May 2005 06:03 (twenty-one years ago)

my ex used to know him. She said he was humorless.

Remy (x Jeremy), Saturday, 14 May 2005 06:27 (twenty-one years ago)

oh isn't he s'posed to be very clever, finished high school early and went on to study law at some ivy league college?

nathalie's baby (stevie nixed), Saturday, 14 May 2005 06:32 (twenty-one years ago)

christ, this aggressive irish-identity-assertion...like that distances her from woody. the whole idea that names constitute identity is more woodyesque than anything

ciaran o'shaughnessy, Saturday, 14 May 2005 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, because there is no other purpose to Irish names, other than avoiding being taken for a Jew.

Alex you have totally made this kid up! There are no matches on google for "Ronan Seamus Farrow" or even "Ronan Farrow".

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Saturday, 14 May 2005 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, because there is no other purpose to Irish names, other than avoiding being taken for a Jew.

Renaming your kids in the narrowest tune to your own lineage when they're what, like 8 years old, just after finding out their father (who had annointed them in his singular way) is screwing your adopted child...you're claiming she had motives other than to distance herself from him?

siobhan o'malley, Saturday, 14 May 2005 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

plus he was named after black US baseball player Satchell Paige! judging from the pic, I doubt "being taken for a Jew" was much of a concern here.

So this NYT story "A Master of Illusion Endures: For Woody Allen's Next Trick, Shrugging Off Bad Publicity" (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/20/movies/for-woody-allens-next-trick-shrugging-off-bad-publicity.html) doesn't mention Dylan Farrow until halfway through, pretty much only to brush off concerns that the controversy will impact his box office, and is mostly a glowing profile of Allen and his films, pretty cool pretty cool

Immediate Follower (NA), Wednesday, 16 July 2014 21:01 (eleven years ago)

this thing is creepy right from the title - what a guy to praise in terms of his ability to deceive.

da croupier, Wednesday, 16 July 2014 21:23 (eleven years ago)

like even if you believe he's innocent, or just want to talk about his films as films, it's still extremely poor taste to defiantly valorize him in these "oh what a brilliantly pleasing but fraudulent stories he tells! What a trickster!" terms.

da croupier, Wednesday, 16 July 2014 21:27 (eleven years ago)

NYT coverage of him has been nauseating for about a decade, do keep up

Yeah, a prominent Danish film critic shared that. The same shit the author has said over and over (the Yale-investigation was discredited by the custody court, for instance). It's kinda creepy that he would create a whole webpage for it, though.

People probably shouldn't even be blamed for things they themselves said 40 years ago. Also, wasn't a pretty big part of Ronans letter about how he himself fell into the same traps in his work in the media?

Maybe it's weird enough to have a fake real dad 50 years your senior without having to entertain the notion of a real real dad who was old enough to have been your weirdly-old fake real dad's real dad.

This seems legit?

https://www.mercurynews.com/2015/11/24/frank-sinatra-is-definitely-not-ronan-farrows-biological-father/

In an interview Monday on NPR’s “Diane Rehm Show,” James Kaplan, author of the second volume of “Sinatra: The Chairman,” said there is no way the “My Way” singer could have gotten together with ex-wife Mia Farrow and conceived Ronan, 27, around March 1987.

That’s because, at the time, Sinatra was incapacitated and impotent following a major abdominal surgery three months earlier that involved removal of 12 feet of intestine. He was recovering in Hawaii with his fourth wife, Barbara, and wearing what was essentially a colostomy bag, Kaplan said.
