sausage party!!!

so it's comin' up on BBQ season again and i wanna know who enjoys grilling sausages and how you enjoy to grill them and what kind you enjoy to enjoy.

pretty much all last summer i was hooked on "sicilians" from a local euro-butchery. they're spicy and awesome (and way spicier than the spicy italians)! but i've started going to this place just down the block, this butcher what offers rabbit, duck, chicken etc sausages. (+ lots of game meats, homemade patés & terrines etc etc). i've only tried the chicken sausages but they were delightfully seasoned.

also there's a place nearby, apparently awesome, called "chez vito," where my friend is going to take sausage-making lessons. so those should be good.

SAUSAGE PARTY!!!

Honey lamb and rosemary saussies... mmm yum.

And remember never to prick them!

But I tht if you didn't they would all straighten out an de-linkify

Smoked kiolbasa sausages are really good. Actually, being where I am geographically with the immigrant history it has, I'm more used to Polish-style and Mexican-style sausages than any other kind of sausage. (But I wouldn't grill any Mexican-style sausage -- that's for scrambling up with eggs and/or potatoes for breakfast!)

I bet, if you could get some sausages made from boar, those would be magnificent.

tis all about chopping them in half length ways, with a bit of one half left so you can flatten them and cook em like patties, thjey cooj through much more quickly and evenly.

while googling "sausage party" (i was expecting this thread to be about a gay orgy) I found this:

But they're not as fun to bite into then!

I want to go to this new pizza place that open up in town because they make their own sausage there.

1. Boil bratwurst (preferably Vollwerth's) in water, salt, beer, and onions.
2. Remove bratwurst, discard boiling materials.
3. Grill bratwurst over screamingly hot coals.
4. Serve on toasted bun with one or more of the following: sauerkraut, mustard, cheese, onions.
5. Die of happiness.

dan m (OutDatWay), Friday, 29 April 2005 17:21 (eighteen years ago) link

Also: if you happen to be able to find Vollwerth's "Sauna Makkara" Ring Bologna, you're a very, very lucky person. This does not require grilling, but rather cooking over sauna rocks while you sauna with your crew.

I used to eat lots of tofu, until I found seitan, which absorbs flavor better, and it's less fattening. I'll bet you could make really good seitan sausages.

ulysses, Monday, 4 April 2016 20:46 (eight years ago) link

I don't think people like buying ironic tickets to movies that are trying to be stupid already.

i dunno, the first comments on the reddit thread are:

there's going to be a really unsettling sex scene between that hot dog and that bun.

100% guarantee I'll see some news story about a parent to sees the poster without knowing what it is, and taking their small children to see it.
It's going to be the South Park Movie all over again.
I love it.

Despite that, I don't think the stoner-Apatow crew is suffering much backlash despite their cliches at this point. For instance that reddit thread seems pretty psyched about it overall.

granted I thought "This is the End" was one of the best comedies of the last 30 years.

four months pass...

this was uneven, though the last half hour was one of the funniest things I've seen all over. First half over fairly predictable humor wise, and tries to get too much mileage out of the "we're cartoons but we're SWEARING and being SEXUAL and also we're FOOD" angle. once it goes full-on absurd it finds its stride.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 13 August 2016 19:28 (seven years ago) link

supposedly the trailer/s have deliberately kept The Best Stuff out. smart move. is there a thread for this proper?

My friend texted from the theater today that they had signs up all over stressing this is not a kids film.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 August 2016 20:13 (seven years ago) link

i highly enjoy juvenile humor with copious profanity so I was pretty pleased overall, but yeah, the orgy scene was kinda much even for me. I wish I had bothered to look up ahead of time who all the voices were, the actors weren't listed until the end and the only ones I caught while watching the movie were Rogen, Hill, Cera, Wiig, Kroll and Craig Robinson.

evol j, Monday, 15 August 2016 20:20 (seven years ago) link

Everything I've seen about this movie makes its seem like it's more "dark" than "silly swearing food" thing, which doesn't sound nearly as fun to me

Whiney G. Weingarten, Monday, 15 August 2016 20:42 (seven years ago) link

kinda seems like it's gonna blow my mind about religion too

on the climactic-orgy front tho i am a big fan of perfume so it could go either way

le Histoire du Edgy Miley (difficult listening hour), Monday, 15 August 2016 20:57 (seven years ago) link

Is there a link to the orgy clip anywhere? My 12-year-old really wants to go see this and my wife seems to think "oh it's all lols". We're usually like "sure whatever, kid" but the impression I've been getting from people's reactions is that this is pretty intensely porny.

Some artists who worked on “Sausage Party,” a computer-animated comedy produced by Annapurna Pictures and released by Sony Pictures, have alleged that they were denied overtime pay, pushed to hit unrealistic production goals and stripped of their credits for complaining about work conditions at Vancouver, Canada-based Nitrogen Studios in order to meet the movie’s thrifty $19-million budget.

Nonsensical premise fueled entirely by a single joke. not exactly a parody of pixar films. Tons of borderline racist stuff. A couple funny gags.
