But I'm creeped out by the line "a brother and a sister, but then the passion flares again."

otherwise, I can listen to this song until...well, until the fear in me subsides.
I have to close my eyes and hide.

Now I'm blasting "Don't Give Up On Us Baby". Please, someone, stop me. lord knows we've come this far, why can't we change the way we are? It's written in the moonlight, painted on the stars...

I need to get that Disc O Zone album.

Don't give up on us, baby
We're still worth one more try
I know we put a last one by
Just for a rainy evening
When maybe stars are few
Don't give up on us, I know
We can still come through

I have tried to analyze the emotional resonance of these songs, and have realized that"Don't Give Up On Us Baby" has an important key change that is IGNORED by David Soul, but then the song ends with a gigantic key change.
"sometimes When We Touch" has a few key chsnges, but as it is a duet I'm not sure it can be even mentioned in the same breath. Well, let me listen to both songs again.

David Soul did a cover of this? I only know the Dan Hill version. NO I DIDN'T JUST ADMIT THAT!!

Curious George Rides a Republican (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 27 January 2005 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a cover? I thought David Soul created schlocky seventies stuff. Anyway, I'm going to listen to some Anne Murray now.

The vocal on 'Sometimes When We Touch' was so far beyond David Robert Soul's capabilities in terms of range and emotion that it is hard to see how the two could be confused. David Soul's singing was so bad and so wooden it veered dangerously close to being worse than David Soul's acting.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 27 January 2005 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I changed my mind and listened to Desperado by Johnny and June Carter Cash. Because that's how I feel. I should come down from my fences. I should come to my senses.
And now I am listening to "Minstrel Boy" By Mr. Joe Strummer. Is it possible to miss someone you don't know? because i miss Joe Strummer.
And I miss Johnny and June.

So, so, so you're saying he didn't sing this masterpiece? In which case, did he not sing the other one either? In which case, all of my beliefs are shattered. And my excellent little thread is a moot point.

aimurchie, Thursday, 27 January 2005 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

He may have recorded the song at some stage, but he definitely didn't sing the hit-parade version.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 27 January 2005 01:49 (twenty-one years ago)

He did sing 'Don't Give Up On Us' and another ballad (name escapes) which was even worse, and both made Top 3 on Casey Kasam in 76-77.

I'm going to listen to David Soul singing both songs and pretend this entire thing didn't happen.

I'm guessing Fred thought it was better to hurt you honestly than mislead you with a lie.

According to AMG, you're not going to listen to David Soul singing "Sometimes When We Touch."

Curious George Rides a Republican (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 27 January 2005 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just another writer, still trapped within my truth; a hesitant prize fighter, still trapped within my youth.

aimurchie, Thursday, 27 January 2005 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Every time the line "hesitant prize fighter" comes up, I think of Hilary Swank.
And I forget to thank my husband.

I don't understand. I will, as I have happily done for the past several hours, indeed listen to David Soul sing "Sometimes When We Touch". The AMG person can kiss my Soul lovin' ASS. I have listened to both songs SEVERAL TIMES this evening, and can happily say that David Soul is singing both.
He duets with a woman for "Sometimes When We Touch" and duets with a man for "Don't Give Up On Us, Baby". I do wonder who his musical partners are.
