*crickets chirping*

JM, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Drunk, and WITHOUT ME around to enjoy it *and* the drinks. I am disappointed. Getting drunk sounds like a fine idea right now, it's warm enough to enjoy some chilled champagne, but I like having friends to share it with. And some good cheese or apples.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Haven't we already covered this topic before?

David Raposa, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Not this particular drunkenness at this point in time. Therefore, we can talk about it again. :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Drunkeness rocks, stop dogging me.

I'm actually not that drunk, I only had like 4 margaritas and like 2 beers, jesus. Calm down, people.

Ally, Wednesday, 11 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Well shouldn't you be trying harder then? You have an audience to entertain here, sheesh.

Josh, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

That would totally wipe me out as I am literally a lightweight. Got back from drinx earlier, passed out on sofa, got the shake-awakes at about 3am and all this from three glasses of wine. Ohhh dear.

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

We can't have that! Start more practice drinking for early August there, Suzy. :-)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

bitch - i thought i told you to stick to straight vodka doubles or nothing - you'll be here tomorrow whining yr ass off about the hangover, and all we will do is laugh and vomit with you.

Geoff, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

2 drinks and i cannot walk. Thats why i drink beer. Because one will last an evening as opposed to things that taste like candy . I drink alot of these and pinch buttocks and bosoms .

Drunken internet posts: dud, coz you have to live with them in the morning.

Sterling Clover, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Sober internet posts (or columns, rather): dud, because normal real life everyday friends somehow stumble upon them without you ever having told them about them, and they tell you they're "funny", and you're like, "why are you reading me?!?" I don't want my friends reading me! Or thinking I'm funny! What the fuck! I'm drunk too! I won't regret this in the morning! I got drunk tonight with a Painkiller fan! And a Spaniard at that! We could hardly communicate! He also like Judas Priest! Kick ass!

Otis Wheeler, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

This is, of course, the C21 version of a game my little sister identified and often plays: Drink'n'Dial.

FTR, no hangover, just odd balance.

Ned, I like being a lightweight. If I survive the Vomit Launch - sorry, I mean Picnic In The Sky - I shall consider it a kind of baptism for atheists.

Beer is vile because it gives me two-day headaches and and most pint- drinking men I know get their eunuch handles by age 25 because of it.

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I can't drink at the moment, and it upsets me. I keep hoping that if I go for longer and longer between drinking bouts, that they will be less severe when I finally have them, cause, like, I'm out of practise so my tolerance will have gone way down, and I can get pleasantly pissed on only 6 double vodkas instead of the usual 15.

Never works, tho.

masonic boom, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

You're drunk alright, drunk on being a fussbudget!

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

No, I'm drunk on POWER!!! The power of being QUEEN OF THE STATS!!! Even if it's just for another few hours. Sigh.

Power corrupts, but corruption empowers!

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Anyone who thinks that posting drunk is a dud because you have to "live with it in the morning", as if, you know, POSTING SHIT ON THE INTERNET IS SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT EVEN REMOTELY EVER IN THE HISTORY OF ANYTHING IN THE ENTIRE WORLD INCLUDING RODENTS AND SMALL PAPER CUTS, is a dud. It should be a requirement to only post drunk.

Ally, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Ally, you might want to reach for the bottle and start the toasting now. Demon Allbran, according to my sources, is about to go to a nice clinic for one night only. When he comes out he'll be With Hat for a few days. After he takes it off, he'll be the Elton John of indie 4 Real.

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Suzy, what are you on about, good woman? If you know something, spill the beans NOW! Is he going to Hair Club For Men? Oh please, oh please dear lord, how I would LAFF!!! (And then send Paul in after him if the next SF goes as hair-tearingly bad as the previous few...)

masonic boom, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Ha ha, I KNEW IT!

He always struck me as far too vain to live with being a baldie for very long...

Thanks for the information Suzy, it more than makes up for me having to relive my childhood traumas by mentioning midwestern girls with feather-cuts and forenza sweaters.

TRANSPLANTILLAZ!

Nicole, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Mwahahahaha. Like Mommy Cobain said, he's gone off to join that stupid club, the one Kate mentioned.

Can't wait to see him at the next showbiz soiree. "Hiya D, are you on drugsImeanPLUGS?"

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

OH MY GOD. That's the best thing that's happened all day, besides the team giving me last night's game ball for getting ejected.

Ally, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Fucking hell. What everyone else said. Thing is, I'm willing to bet his job is nowhere near as good as Gary Numan's (which eventually turned out all right!). Heh heh heh.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Hey Nicole, you forgot what goes with the Forenza/stonewash: that puff of teased, hairsprayed bangs/fringe I like to call The Claw.

Like deep fried cheese curds with ketchup, a Minnesota classic.

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Actually I am listening to Gary Numan righ t now. Are Freinds Electric?

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

...and for a moment there you all thought the surgeons could also remove the giant bug he's ALSO got up his arse, since they've had to remove his head from same to apply the PLUGZ.

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Good choice there, Mike. I do like your image, Suzy, but I thought all of him *was* the plug.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Nicely played, Ned. A lot of skin and hair, attached to a giant ringpiece. I can now see what Dennis Cooper was trying to get at.

suzy, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Hey Nicole, you forgot what goes with the Forenza/stonewash: that puff of teased, hairsprayed bangs/fringe I like to call The Claw.

No, it's more a case of trying to forget! The scary thing is, I still see this hairstyle (though admittedly it's a rare occaison) once in awhile. Minnesota has nothing on Michigan in this department.

Perhaps Damon can fashion his newfound hair into a Claw. It would be the most original thing he has ever done.

Nicole, Thursday, 12 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

No, that would be the Delta 72 or whatever they are called. Some horrid blues band from Philadelphia that played the Garage last year. And they thought they were all KEWL with their Rod Stewart retromullets, when actually I laughed and laughed and laughed because one of them had actually succeeded in fashioning his hair into the male equivalent of The Claw. Oh, so wrong it was right.

And what a drunk thread to revive as well.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 3 June 2007 01:51 (sixteen years ago) link

How did stet manage to register a new email address/username while drunk? I had to retype those unclear fuzzy letters twice already and that was when I was sober!

I might be buzzed after this beer. But then the headache I've had all day might prevent that from happening. My guy has gone out for the night. I'm alone with some freshly made salsa and COPS reruns.

Ms Misery, Sunday, 3 June 2007 02:15 (sixteen years ago) link

I have no salsa, nor TV, nor guy. Hmm.

It's getting a little better. I want to try to write but the more beers I have the worse. Also getting drunk solo is sort of teh lame.

haha, well I've been plenty lame in my life. . .Also I would like to be able to roffle at my guy when he's hungover in the morning which obv won't happen if I'm also hungover.

One of the nation's largest motorcycle rally's is in town tonight. He went downtown to meet his biker friend and observe the debauchery. And now COPS is over. :(

Ms Misery, Sunday, 3 June 2007 02:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh now it's on a different channel! hurrah!

Ms Misery, Sunday, 3 June 2007 02:26 (sixteen years ago) link

but how does it make you feel, treeship?

little belgium (boy_slayer), Sunday, 4 August 2013 02:36 (ten years ago) link

I feel invested in the movie i am watching.

Treeship, Sunday, 4 August 2013 02:40 (ten years ago) link

Also i feel a paradoxical sense of urgency about making positive life changes combined with an overriding sense of conplacency, and investment in this film about mishima.

Treeship, Sunday, 4 August 2013 02:42 (ten years ago) link

i just talked to my across-the-hall neighbor. and, he's... gorgeous and gay and 20. i just asked if i could tag along, tonight. i doubt that he'll let me. he only did one time, on the first weekend. i need a haircut. and, i'm wearing my older sister's large lucky jeans and u-m hoodie. i'm already real gone, and my plea ended with, "i'll put on good clothes if you want to go out with me."

i'll get dressed in case. i know that i'm older (i've admitted i'm 27 before, reasons why i began school late, etc.) but, he's really cool, and i'm desperate for companionship. i hope he comes get me. i can be fun, too! i'll get dressed in case.

i'm gonna fall asleep v. drunk and half-crying again. i tried. i'll probably go to the liquor store once more. i do try to be normal, sometimes though. i'll try not to post again.

little belgium (boy_slayer), Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:20 (ten years ago) link

no need to be desperate boy slayer, bet you're worth it underneath all that self-deprecation. 27 isn't that old btw. though it probably is to a 20 yo! i remember when i was 23 i got with a 29 yo woman and i thought she was an adult with a capital A. little did I know.

Spectrum, Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:39 (ten years ago) link

lol. so immature. i pass for 21-22 most days. it's just... i'm in a shitty housing situation, always lonely, and my loneliness is only exacerbated by being around all of these young people. i mean, i kind of look like them, but, i don't really feel anything like them, anymore...?

anyway, it'll be better when i'm back on the university operated apartments, in a few weeks. i just ended up here because, 1: wanted to gain summer credits, and 2: i was too lazy to deal with a sub-lease. anyway, he's probably more 'mature' than me, anyway.

little belgium (boy_slayer), Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:46 (ten years ago) link

and, yes, i know that i REALLY should not be here, should not care, etc. but i am here, and i'm extremely lonely. it sucks.

anyway. yeah, i did drink a pint so far tonight. thankfully, i'm not insane like usual. pretty ok. still feeling like a normal person.

little belgium (boy_slayer), Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:49 (ten years ago) link

you should be here. this thread is for drunk postings and your posts are very much in that genre.

Treeship, Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:51 (ten years ago) link

27 isn't too old to go after 20 y/o fwiw. 27 isn't too old for anything. an example of an old age is 96.

Treeship, Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:52 (ten years ago) link

not after him, lol. just wanna tag along. i think he's still over there and figuring tonight out. i'm trying to play it cool. my door is slightly open and i'm playing sally shapiro.

little belgium (boy_slayer), Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:53 (ten years ago) link

mishima seems like he was fucked. he intuited early on that to be devoted to Beauty meant that he could never seriously engage with life like a normal person, and yet persisted in his devotion to Beauty anyway, citing byron and others.

romanticism has fucking killed people.

Treeship, Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:54 (ten years ago) link

thanks guys.

anyway, it'll be cool if i'm in again tonight. i've probably only been so insane the last few weeks for the cause of idle hands. so much to do, the next few weeks, a good 40 pages or so. won't slip tonight no matter what, and won't allow myself to humiliate myself as usual. it's good.

little belgium (boy_slayer), Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:56 (ten years ago) link

you're fine man. you are articulate and you pull off desperation with panache which is key.

mishima, though. have you read anything by mishima? or seen the film?

Treeship, Sunday, 4 August 2013 03:57 (ten years ago) link

derpoleon and d'ohsephine (get bent), Sunday, 4 August 2013 06:24 (ten years ago) link

welp. in keeping with my effort to get drunk every single day and humiliate myself, here is the concluding paragraph of a paper i submitted a few hours ago. (i am drunk as usual, and do not understand why i am doing this. i hope that it entertains someone?)

i only post it because i am really pissed at myself about it. this is the first time that i have ever written gibberish in a paper. i mean, i kind of just gave up by the time i got to the end. i mean, i know what it means, but, it is useless. i hope i get an f.

Chronological records of events do not exist for all histories, especially social ones. A single representation of an history or identity is simply not enough in most cases, and even if we must rely upon several partial histories of events or identities, these added representations still serve to give more narrative coherence to the chronicle. In Regeneration, some representations are given form and body in characters that are loosely historically based, while other representations are based upon entirely fictional characters that serve only to inspire the historical imagination. Whether through the eyes of the historical Siegfried Sassoon, or through those of the fictional Billy Prior, it is useful to view WWI and the postwar experience from the perspective of either character. The characters in Pat Barker’s Regeneration create new frameworks of memory within which we can re-imagine, reinterpret, and more accurately remember World War I and its long lasting effects.

also, sometimes i want to drop out of school and become a fucking artist.*

*i am drunk, by the way.

Treeship, Friday, 9 August 2013 22:56 (ten years ago) link

like, that is just a simple, true statement -- it's useful to consider multiple firsthand perspectives because an objective, external view onto history is impossible, a chimera -- dragged out over a paragraph, which is what academic writing (often) is.
