Can coffee make one's voice deeper?

Since I started drinking coffee, my voice has lowered. Is there a correlation? Does anyone know? Google's hopeless.

does it go into your stomach, when you "drink" it?

I suspect it's how your now being a "coffee achiever" is manifesting itself. When I drink lots of coffee I sit and try to pull out my pubes one by one. My groin looks like Barbie's head after stinky little brother gets at it with his scissors. Gimme some coffee.

my groin used to always looked like barbie's head until the bitch dumped me

Thread mutation within three posts. That's got to be a record.

PEDANT

Anyway, just for fun even though I'm all pissed I'll try to give a real answer. Maybe all that hot liquid has cooked your throat. Now it's like a smoked salmon as it has so much more depth after having hot stuff put on it...your voice like.

Yeah. Or perhaps it cleared out some gooey shit that's been lining it for decades.

Does coffee makes you feel more relaxed? That could do it.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Thursday, 11 November 2004 09:27 (10 years ago) Permalink

(In the sense that my voice can easily drop half an octave when I'm more relaxed and my voice box is thus less constricted.)

I get that marlene deitrich thing happening when I have a cold... But I can't say coffee's ever done it, not that I have noticed.

Milk might tho - dairy can produce phlegm.

Trayce OTM I suspect.

suspect?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 11 November 2004 11:12 (10 years ago) Permalink

Yeah, the dairy thing is OTM. One's voice does change as one matures, though. Even after the "voice change" at puberty, you go through another one later on. It's happening to me now, and I'm dropping down in the alto range. Weh-hoo.

coffee does make my voice a little creaky when i drink it, it sort of makes my whole body shaky so that could have something to do with it.

Only pantied homosexual sodometricians drink their coffee with milk. BLACK OR DIE.

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Thursday, 11 November 2004 12:58 (10 years ago) Permalink

Seconded. Although I know plenty of homosexuals who drink black coffee.

Sugar's useless too. If you want sugar that badly eat fairy floss.

Espresso makes it deeper! WTF??

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 04:26 (10 years ago) Permalink

Youre on DRUGS.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 04:29 (10 years ago) Permalink

APPARENTLY CAFFEINE IS A DRUG.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 04:29 (10 years ago) Permalink

No, seriously, normal [e.g. plunger] coffee makes it deeper, but percolated espresso makes it croak like nobody's business.

Adamdrome Crankypants (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 04:30 (10 years ago) Permalink

Thats really bizarre! I wonder if it does that to me ... I will pay attention tomorrow when I have one.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 04:31 (10 years ago) Permalink

This is crazy. I should try eating raw coffee trees and see if my larynx leaps out of my throat.

that could be a topic for that comic strip in the other thread
