sort of following on the eminem video, i have to admit. (althhough in the video em whacks in the anti-climactic twist of storming the white house and then... voting.) it's kind of curious. it's pretty hard to believe it could ever happen. you'd probably have to have the support of the army.

First, get everyone very drunk. Next, road trip! Finally, I wish you all the best of luck. Sincerely.

What would the circumstances need to be? Well I'd imagine a bit of help from Bin Laden and his VAST NETWORK OF TERRORIST CELLS IN THE UNITED STATES might not go amiss.

I'm there. I fucking hate that place anyway, how long are they going to close down Pennsylvania Avenue for???

I suppose if the government looked like dismantling the military to any degree, was too left wing etc. the military would hold a coup - but a coup would be impossible without at least some military support. As for a revolution, only if things get really bad - a huge loss of life, maybe in a nuclear war. If there was a huge amount of starvation or disease (say, a fanciful hollywood virus type thing, and the government were percieved to be holding the cure).

It takes a lot to get people to revolt - coups however are very common, but not in advanced democratic nations of course.

There will never be another Weather Underground.

I've been saying since I moved here, we all fucking hate those sons of bitches, every man jack of them, so why don't we just hold a citywide sickout/park-in/filibuster of bodies and not let them get anything done until they fucking do what we want? I mean honestly you have a quarter of a million disenfranchised liberals in one place right next to the fucking capitol, don't we have any sense of solidarity through civil disobedience? Oh wait we can't afford to eat without them. Son of a bitch.

TOMBOT, Friday, 5 November 2004 02:05 (nineteen years ago) link

We can't afford to eat without politicians? Anyway, a general strike is a more effective way to bring down the government than a revolution.

In the designated "Free Speech Zones," which, I imagine, will be in Maryland somewhere. Possibly Virginia.

trigonalmayhem (trigonalmayhem), Friday, 5 November 2004 03:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Bit there won't be protests like last time, surely - he was elected this time. There will probably be anti-war protests, though.

I SAY WE JUST STORM IT, FUCK THEIR FREE SPEECH ZONES, I MEAN THEY CAN'T SHOOT ALL OF US.

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Friday, 5 November 2004 03:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I marched in Clinton's second inaugural parade, before all the homeland security bullshit and the jersey barriers downtown, and I would kind of argue that yes, they can, because for every sniper you can see on the roof there's about 5 that you can't. Snipers hate fun.

TOMBOT, Friday, 5 November 2004 03:41 (nineteen years ago) link

OK SO YR SAYING THAT SNIPERS COULD HIT ME, YOU, AND TRACER? THIS IS BULLSHIT. STOP HATING FUN G-MAN.

How would we go about applying to be snipers? THEY CAN'T WEED OUT ALL OF US
